Rumor here in Memphis is that one of your current assistants is headed to the U of Memphis and will be replaced by a local Memphis Prep coach.

This rumor has legs. Its nothing earth shattering and might work out better for both schools. It all hinges on one of the current asst. coaches on our staff leaving for a HC or other better asst. job.

Considering it's Jan. 11th, this seems like a stupid rumor.

Just felt its worth mentioning. Its got some pretty influential people here backing it.

Shay has been with Pearl 10 years. If Pearl is still here it's hard for me to see Shay leaving to go to Memphis.

Im going to keep it vague for now. Seems like there is some skepticism concerning Pearls future with this guy and an opportunity to continue to achieve with another great staff. Getting a Memphis prep coach to fill the void might turn out to be a really good thing though if it does fall into place.

I like to think so. Some of them are new to the college game but they are adjusting quite well.

They looked like they didn't have a clue against UT. One of the worst coached games I've ever seen. The 2-3 zone looked like a church league team came up with it.

If your team's play is any indication, they're not adjusting well at all.

Im guessing Roy Williams is a bad coach because of his teams play too? Im more concerned about the lack of accumulating muscle mass right now. I know we have a good strength and conditioning guy but it seems like the bball players are really skinny. They should have put on a lot more poundage in the summer.

When Pastner wins a title and wins about 80% of his games for around 15 years consecutively, then maybe it's a comparison. Until then, it looks like he's an absolutely pathetic floor coach.

How many national titles does Pastner have? How many national titles did the guy he coached under have?

Great coaching staff? C'MON MAN!

I understand where thats coming from and frankly Im not sure youre wrong. Hes still learning and one of this big issues with our current team is that two of our best players would rather listen to someone not connected to the program than the entire coaching staff. Pastner needs to find a way to make them realize theyre only hurting themselves.

Actually, he simply needs to take control of his team and let them know he is the coach. If players will not listen to the coach, they should be on the bench. Not much chance he will be successful any other way.

Put them on the bench. Problem solved.
