I'm sorry, how many top 10 teams have you all beaten this year? :victory:

Not the point. I just think that if Florida beats LSU, you ain't going to jump them. But, we may not find out. We might lose to LSU, you might lose to Georgia. It doesn't really matter, anyway. Can't predict seeding this far out.

If in one week Florida beat Kentucky (by 15, mind you) and also beats LSU, the loss in between will not drop them below UT.

Probably true.Tennessee needs to beat UGA first and that will be no easy task at Athens.

UF and UT will be neck and neck in the rankings next week and we both win.

But it really doesn't matter all that much, honestly.

Exactly utfantilidie. Instead of worrying about whether Florida is unfairly ranked ahead of you in the AP poll next Monday, best focus on the ask ahead of you this weekend.

True. Lord knows if I'm not focused, we might lose that game.

Focusing now... :post-20645-1119625378:

Hey, we're fans, we can look ahead. Can't we?

He's right, though. UGA ain't no slouch.

Florida is benefitting, fairly or unfairly, by getting to 17-0 and rising to #2 in the polls. They have to get knocked out of their spot as much as you get pushed up into yours. And most of the writers don't care if it looks right that the #2 team in the SECE is ranked ahead of #1.

Actually most of these guys are sportswriters and thats all they do. They are a lot more educated about that then you give them credit for. I think they look at conference standings, RPI, strength of schedule, etc. The only problem I have with it is the inherent bias when you have people who went to a big 10 school, pac 10, etc obviously they have an inherent bias there.

how can florida be ahead of tennessee after getting beat by an ok south carolina team... TWICE

I'd vote UT ahead of the Gators if I had a vote. I'm not saying the Gators SHOULD be ranked ahead of UT. I'm just saying that if both win this weekend, UF will probably be ranked slightly higher. I just don't think a lot fo the country is paying that much attention to SEC bball right now. With Kentucky sucking and not making nay noise, its like we've fallen off the face of the Earth.

Mark it we will be ranked higher come Monday if we win
A) Have higher RPI
B) Better conf record
C) Swept a team that swept the gators
D) For god's sake we won head to head
E) Gators have lost 3 games since we last lost
F) Huge difference in SOS

Maybe so. Pearl is giving the conference some pub, though.

You make a solid case for it. I just think that if Florida wins 2 out of 3 in the week and the two are Kentucky (again, by 15) and LSU, then they are just not going to drop us that far. Personal opinion. Not saying its right.

Like I said before...rankings don't mean a whole lot right now. We need to get out of that football mentality where rankings are everything.

EXACTLY !!! Why? I love it! -----

Because there is a national playoff in college basketball!!

You can be ranked 25th and have the same shot to win it all as the team ranked 5th.

Thanks. Don't get it. This one probably falls at the feet of Donovan for not having them ready to play.

For a program like Tennessee who hasn't had much of a basketball program in a long long time, rankings could be everything. Recruits look at rankings. It might not matter to the Duke, UNC, UF, or UK's of the world because they have the history and reputation. For us, it could be the difference between getting a 3 star or 5 star. And don't try to tell me that the stars don't matter either.

your point would almost make sense if you didnt lose at HOME (thought gators were unstoppable with there crowd presence there?) to a team that is 12-10?? come on if you dont think you are going to drop pass tennessee in the polls after losing to sc at home, then idk. But really, its not going to matter cause LSU will take it to yall this weekend, we will handle georgia, and all will be handled right?

Yo! Lawgator, have you glanced at the SEC Eastern Division standings? You are 6-3 now. Tennessee is 8-1, and will be 9-1 after they beat UGA Saturday. Give me a break, Stegeman Coliseum?!?! A hard place to play?! Please.

You just got punked by Carolina, twice! YOU WILL NOT BE RANKED AHEAD OF TENNESSEE MONDAY! No matter what happens Saturday.
