Yo! Lawgator, have you glanced at the SEC Eastern Division standings? You are 6-3 now. Tennessee is 8-1, and will be 9-1 after they beat UGA Saturday. Give me a break, Stegeman Coliseum?!?! A hard place to play?! Please.

You just got punked by Carolina, twice! YOU WILL NOT BE RANKED AHEAD OF TENNESSEE MONDAY! No matter what happens Saturday.

OMG I love this guy, that could be the best post in volnation history... That kills me..... hahaha

Congrats to the Cocks but boy do I hate the WestColumbia Gamecock avatar.

I don't know, I kind of like the Old Ball Coach now. Wish we had him here.

UF and UT will be neck and neck in the rankings next week and we both win.

But it really doesn't matter all that much, honestly.

Very true.Well said.

Is it me or isn't it kind of strange we have a gamecock fan and a gator fan confronting each other on a VolNation web site? :dunno:

True, but a good showing in March helps alot, too.

I'm just saying that it's not a do or die situation in the polls.

Maybe I missed the other Gator's post. I ain't confronting anyone because I am no longer taking the position that Florida is better than Tennessee. I am not sure anymore because losing to S.C. suggests to me that this team is losing its focus and I think we see now how to defense the Gators best. Through the first 17 games of the season the Gators were flying high and slammin and jammin. They weren't reckless, but they were wild and all over the place. It was that way this past Saturday vs. Kentucky.

Now, I did not see the S.C. game, but I caught highlights and what really has me worried is that it looked like S.C. was playing a zone defense against the Gators and that may be the key to beating Florida. In years past the Gators have been a perimeter shooting team. Not so this year -- we depend on scoring in the paint, traditional three point plays, and rebounding. But against a zone the team has seemed to me to slow down to the point of being too deliberate. I mean, against Kentucky's man defense we scored 95. Against S.C. we scored 67.

Every team hits a rut lawgator. It's how they respond to it that determines how well the gators will do in the tournament. I think UF is still a very good team and even with the way we are playing and the fact that UF just lost to USC at Gainesville, 2/22 is still a extremely scary game for UT.

Thanks Thunder5, and I'm not down on them for losing a game. I would never have expected a 20-3 record out of this team. And I agree, we need to see how they respond to this. I just read an article that said that S.C. shot 53 percent from the field in this game. That's huge. One S.C. guy made ten 3's against us and Donovan said he had tried to get the Florida big men to stay in his face but they kept dropping off of him.

It's good in the sense that hopefully they realize what the problem is and that they need to play better defense on the perimeter. It's bad when I thinbk about the way that Lofton managed to get loose from the Kentucky defense and light them up for a bunch. To have a chance against you on 2/22, Gators had better figure out a way to keep some white and blue shirts out around the 3 point line.

LG, I thought I remember a post where the gators were on fire and you mentioned you hoped they didn't repeat the past and basically tank near season's end. Maybe they got caught up in the rankings.S/C isn't too bad of a team.I think they have a fair shot at winning the SEC tournament. We had to shoot lights out there to beat them.I anticipate a great game from UT and UF.

Yes, peaking early or mid-season and having nothing left down the stretch has been a hallmark of Gator bball under Donovan. Its like when people down here get excited because the Orlando Magic go on a 5-game run and threaten to eek their way into the 8th spot in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs. The really good teams have another gear to go to and they kick it in at season's end. The Magic, when they manage to fall into a win, play until they are bleeding internally. I don't want this Florida team to leave too much on the court in the regular season that they have nothing left when we hit March.

There's still alot of basketball to be played, however. The true test for both UF and UT will come next month.

No matter what you think of him, the guy is a competitor and can coach. He doesn't put up with the discipline problems from his players either. I used to hate his guts, but if we had him here you guys would love him just like we all love Pearl and just like Gator fans and Gamecock fans love him. So, tar and feather me if you want, but you know the guy is a winner.

Personally I don't care. He becomes coach, I send my diploma back UPS red label.

Exactly how I feel.

And I'm not saying I want rid of Fulmer, but I wouldn't have minded Spurrier being here either.

What coach is not a competitor? He is a jerk and low class. Not because he beat us but how he handles himself and his team. That would probably be the one and only thing that would cause me to quit watching UT football.
Hate on Fulmer if you want but calling for Visor boy is not cool. This past Cock year was an aboration. Waite and see. We will own him as long as he is in Columbia. He had his best year that he will have as the head cock. (pun intended)
