Did UT even get a look by this kid? I know there is more to this story then what was written. At first I thought that maybe grades might be an issue, but after very little thought, that probably is not the case since if it were Hawn would have grabbed the $150k and signed. We could use another local stud at Lower Hudson.

Isn't that the kid that signed with Arkansas with a full ride? There was someone from the Knoxville area that did that but I thought it was last year. IF TR was aware of Hawn, i suspect he went after him especially considering we are slightly low on numbers. OTOH maybe the kid doesn't want to make a 3 year commitment at a D1 school. Hopefully someone will have an article about this soon.

yea, Cody signed with Arkansas, but he also got drafted in the 20th round i believe. He was gonna weigh his options cause he would still be makin pretty damn good moneyt if he turns pro. This guy is a monster hitter. and no, Cody doesn't have grade problems

Hawn was hurt his entire Sr year with a knee injury. With his exceptional power from the left side of the plate, had he played his Sr season, he's going in the top 3 rounds. Him not taking 150k and going JC instead of Arkansas was a smart decision. He's now eligable for the '08 MLB Draft, and with a good year at the nation's best junior college program, could get a multi-million dollar signing bonus. I'm not sure if MLB still has the "draft-and-follow" rule anymore, but the team that drafted him could sign him just before the draft, and maybe increasing the amount they offer.

Cody Hawn is an "A" student and always has been. Who ever he decides to sign with will be lucky to have him. Cody plays hard and credits all the wins to "his team".

I went to school with Cody...He is a great, great guy. I think barring injury, there is no way he will stick around after JUCO.
