College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Yes, IMO...here's my question for u..does the fact that Purdue, Villanova, and Auburn lost tonight hurt our chances to get the coveted #1 seed?
I have no idea, but if I had to guess I’d say not too much at this point. I think the Kentucky win and Auburn loss were much more important.

BTO said our RPI is still No. 11.

Ultimately, you are correct but the hypothetical stuff is fun.

Just win. Right now we are favored in every game from here until the tournament. And I believe we’re capable of winning them. Unfortunately there will be teams like Arizona and OSU that have an innate advantage because their regions suck, so we just need to overcome it

It’s actually going to help our chances especially if Auburn let’s us take the 1 seed in the SEC. Texas A&M is a top 30 rpi team so that’s a quality loss. Purdue had a quality loss against Ohio St. Villanova losing was a shocker so that may hurt a little but not as much as you think since that’s Nova’s 2nd loss. Going to make it a lot more difficult on the committee to choose the top 4 seeds if there’s about 8 teams worthy of a 1 seed and the more teams ahead of us that lose the better we are in position for it. The only way we’re getting that 1 seed is if we win out and have a couple other teams lose as well. Still need Mich St, Xavier, Cincinnati, Duke and Kansas to lose again. Texas Tech will surely lose because they have some tough games left. Ohio St is the one team that could steal it from us if they win out along with us. Unfortunately everyone always favors the Big 10 even though the SEC is the better conference this year.

Glad we (A&M) won tonight.

But Billy Kennedy is a horrible coach. Wish we had Barnes. We have to out talent teams.

The officiating was beyond horrible tonight. We had 7 fouls called on us to their zero in the second half at one point.

Their fans suck.

I agree. When UT played A&M earlier this season, I kept thinking to myself that we had it, simply because I thought A&M would make more dumb mistakes than we would. That had everything to do with coaching. I still think u guys have the best talent in the SEC and could be scary come tournament time. Plus, as long as u guys don't collapse, this win, on the road, might have locked up a NCAA Tourney bid.

I'll take coaching over talent in BB every day. We do have a lot of talent, especially down low. It is difficult to overcome such bad coaching from Billy Kennedy.

Why is it critical to get everything so exact in the last 2 minutes that it takes 20 minutes to play? What about the previous 38 minutes?

I actually think that's a good point. If they really want to utilize instant replay, they should just add a referee that stays off the court (but in the arena) in front of a monitor IMO.

The Auburn game was probably the most important on the list and it went our way so I’ll take it...

Exactly what I thought. Pretty crappy night on the surface, but if we could only pick one game to go our way, I would have picked A&M over Auburn. So, we got the one that mattered most.

It's possible I missed it, but haven't seen this discussed:

Auburn's leading scorer and team leader Bryce Brown got injured on a dunk last night and didn't play in the second half. He's getting further evaluation today. Sound's like a strain but who knows, it's something to keep up with and could affect them going forward.

Wow! St.John's might have the two most impressive wins of anyone this season with wins over #1 Nova and #4 Duke. It'll probably be those 13 losses that cost them a 1 seed oh... :)

All they are doing when they go add tenths of seconds to the game clock at the end is making the game longer than it should be...and I mean that literally. I mean, if there's a noticeable draining of the clock after the whistle, it absolutely needs to be corrected. But it takes a fraction of a second to start and stop the clock after the ball is touched in or a whistle happens. That's just how it is. And they're not going back and reviewing all the inbounds plays and subtracting 0.2 seconds that should be gone because it took a beat for the clock to start. So all they're doing is making the game longer than 40 minutes! It's absurd!

And especially absurd was last night and our game at UK, where they seemed to reset the clock to where first contact occurred and not when the foul was called. That's not how it works at all!

Go back to the end of OT in the Purdue game, where Alexander traveled celebrating before the clock actually expired. But even though the travel occurred before the clock expired, the official didn't call it until after, meaning he couldn't go back and add time.

How then can you give teams the time from when the first contact occurred and not when the foul was actually called?

That's what I get, it was made clear in our Purdue game that it's when it's called, not when it happened, yet in last night's AU/TAMU game and us vs. UK, they added time back to when it occured. Which is idiotic.

I have seen some post saying we should be for unc tonight and I disagree.'we want to be ahead of unc in seeding and that's realistic. Being ahead of Duke is much more unlikely

Pull for UNC tonight and then pull for them to lose at NC State on Saturday.

Lol.

In all seriousness we need to be way ahead of them if we want to get a higher seed and better location. We know the committee is going to over value them
And they beat us. It doesn't even need to be a Debate
