Watched a little earlier today. Only saw Rivera running and catching. He ran a 4.8 40 I think. Saw Bray throwing passes to the te' s, he's put on quite a bit if weight. That's all I got to watch, just figured I'd share what I saw.

Tidbits:

Cordarrelle Patterson ran a 4.42
Da’Rick Rogers ran a 4.44
Justin Hunter ran a 4.44.

"Bray continues to build a buzz around himself and performed well on Sunday. He was accurate, displayed the arm strength necessary to make all the passes and threw the ball with accuracy. Bray allowed receivers to run to the ball and was spot on with his deep throws. His timing was off on the shorter throws but Bray has teams believing he possesses the physical skills necessary to start in the NFL."

Steelers eye Patterson: "Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee. Virtually no one knew about him a year ago, after he transferred from Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College. But he quickly developed into a deep-threat receiver who could prove to be the natural replacement for Mike Wallace. He's also a kick returner, which might be a bonus for a team that recently shed Chris Rainey. He has great speed but lacks experience and polish, something new wide receivers coach Richard Mann could supply. Asked to identify his three biggest assets, he said, “Speed. Catching. Scoring.” Can't ask for much more than that."

"Eyebrows were raised when Tennessee junior Tyler Bray was designated as a practice quarterback at the combine. This designation is usually reserved for late-round quarterbacks or even free agents, but most give Bray a third-round grade. The strong-armed passer made the most of his opportunity as he looked terrific throwing deep passes to the tight ends, easily driving the ball downfield and hitting his targets in stride."

"Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray isn’t missing any meals. The early-entry junior’s weight has ballooned from 209 to 232 after extensive training at the Athletes’ Performance Institute (API) in Carson, Calif.

Bray may have returned to Tennessee to build upon an up-and-down junior season and quash NFL concerns about some off-field incidents and his maturity. Bray, though, said that wasn’t a good option with the Volunteers’ switching to a run-heavy offense under new head coach Butch Jones."

"Texas wide receiver (and 2012 Team USA Olympic long jumper) Marquise Goodwin and Tennessee's Cordarrelle Patterson are expected to be among the fastest runners at this year's event. They will run on Sunday."

"Mychal Rivera of Tennessee timed poorly in the forty (4.81) but looked exceptional in pass catching drills."

Great for Tyler! More opportunities to show out.

That speed of 4.81 will really hurt Rivera unfortunately...

I have been a Steelers fan since 1978 and I don't ever remember them moving up in the draft to take a particular player.

I also don't remember them overpaying to get a free agent from another team.

At the 17th pick, I don't see Patterson being available to the Steelers. They will have to give up a pick this season in the 2nd round and also may give up a current player to move up 12 spots from 17th to 5th.

They do need a speedy wide receiver but they also need offensive linemen, a late round q.b. to eventually replace Ben. THey also need a Nose Guard to replace Casey Hampton, who won't be retained. THey also need a hard hitting safety to replace Troy, after next season. THey also need speed in the defensive back field. They also need a replacement running back for Mendenhall, who is set to not be retained this season. Of course, Larry Foote will not be retained and will be cut prior to training camp.

Rivera better put in some work to improve his 40 time at his pro day. Sunday is WRs, QBs, and RBs, so it should be a good day for Vol fans to watch.

Patterson: good 40, not looking sharp on routes, yelled at for not having gloves on coming up for a drill
Hunter: Not a top 10 40, didn't see him in routes,
Da'Rick: Talked about off field issues alot, looked sloppy on routes
Bray: A lot of talk about him today, said looked best of Qb's with arm strength and accuracy thus far
