Complete utter disgrace and you shouldnt accept it!

Can you people really be happy after that performance? Really? How are you just so la de da after every pummeling?

Do you really think that by your babbling on like a teenage girl that it will miraculously have any affect on this team or how they play this weekend?

Mid 60's I played on a team that gave up only 10 points the whole year and we scored at will. We were so good, if we won out, there was discussion we were going to Miami for the football jubilee they used to do the week before the Gator Bowl.

Going into our last game, our starting QB got the flu and we had one day to practice with the backup against a team we'd already beat handily. No big deal, right?

Wrong, we blew up. The harder we tried the more mistakes we made, fumbles we lost. In what became our over intensity we gave up not one but two safties. Myself? I broke a finger and was puking through my facemask, not the pain, the adrenaline from the wtf is going on? Got beat 18-7.

My point you ask. Looking at say, just the OL's off sides penalties no one can say this team didn't go into Mizzou without intensity. In fact, maybe they were over hyped. You can bet the OL wanted to help out Dobbs after his visit. The D wanted to make a showing. I think the team blew up. You and I have seen this through the years and coaching, I don't care who, rarely can calm them down and get them back to a workmanlike attitude. Best personal example I have is when we played Penn State in the Outback. I sat just behind our bench and watched Fulmer gather the team and try his darndest to regroup and motivate. They went out and if anything played worse.

But at Mizzou, Frosh QB in 1st start with a different cadence, early mistakes making it worse... ah ... everything has already been said.

But to rail against this team and their coaches at this time is absolutely ABSURD! I don't care if they didn't get a TD. Stand behind this team, warts and all! That will help them get better, not whinnybrook crybaby "But we're Tennessee and we didn't score".

The problem with VN is u r either full butch n nothing they do is wrong or u r a nega vol.

I think most know we have 3 years with cbj but for the life of me I don't understand that the full butch crowd cant have a conversation about the staffs weakness n want them to get better along with the talent.

The off n def schemes are way to simple to win n this league n that must change.

U r not always negative being critical...

7n5 is the goal to prove this staff even has a chance to get it.. N that is a sec championship..

Takes me time to get through threads so just wanted to bump this one that's all...

Also...I love all the Dooley bashing when we just got spanked by a team he lost in OT to last year.

The truth maybe ugly and not-very-polite , but it is what happened. Listless, distracted, emotionally flat ,lack of purpose or pride. Do we have to put with such as UT fans? Where is the pride that goes with wearing that T on your headgear ? I am surprised that Will Overstreet, Al Wilson and those guys haven't gone over there and slapped some of these current players around for sullying the BIG ORANGE HONOR. Vols didn't quit in the old days, ever- no matter the score. Dobbs ,although loaded with potential, needs some support from the other 10 guys , esp the vet line- he had zero. If anything, they played worse than any other time this year. I may lose, but I am betting may money on Auburn- final score Tigers by 20 to 25 pts.

Factual account of the last two games. This is on the coaches. They are making the big bucks to have the team ready, mentally, emotionally, and every other way. We could get a bunch of good high school coaches, triple their normal pay, (which would still save the program lots and lots of money) and get better results.

Clueless?

I was comparing offenses that played the same team...Mizzou.

By tallent alone we probably have more future NFL quality playes than all those teams combined but the worst any of them was able to score was over 4 times as much as we did. I stand by my statement....alarming.

Who do you think will be playing in the NFL? Neal? J Smith? Bransiel? Downs?

The only two players I would say for certain that will play in the NFL on offense is Tiny and North. North is a Freshman but has the most upside of any player on the offense at this moment.

The Oline - some team may take a chance on James or Fulton and maybe even Stone. Unless they ball out at the combine I do not see any one of these lineman drafted.

I have never in my life seen our skill position so depleted of play makers.

Neal has great speed but no vision or cutting ability that great backs or even good backs have. I will give him credit I did think he started running harder this season.

Lane runs hard but does not have the speed to be a home run threat, his vision may be a little better than Neals.

Smith is suppose to have some speed and run good routes but right now couldn't catch a cold.

Pig plays hard and has some nice ability could be a good college player but may be to undersized to play in the NFL.

Croom is a big tall target but does not posses great speed if he puts some weight on his frame and learns to play with his hand down and block, I think he could be a good TE and that would be the position he would play in the NFL if can add the weight and learn to block from the TE spot.

Worley is not playing in the NFL and it is too early to tell about Dobbs and Ferguson because we haven't seen enough of them.

Why do you think they are trying to sign so many receivers and trying to find a third RB to bring in? BC their is not much skill position talent on this team.

So again I wish everyone would stop with all the talent BS bc its not their.

Yeah, its called being a passionate sports fan UNLIKE you. Keep tolerating mediocrity and incompetence...

How might one stop "tolerating mediocrity and incompetence?"

I am not trying to be argumentative or an a$$ hat? I just don't get it. I read all the time that these sorts of performances shouldn't be "accepted." Ok . . . so what does nonacceptance look like for a fan?

I see how it works for a coach or player. But a fan?

Is simply announcing that I don't accept enough? That seems a little too easy in my opinion.

Do I post tirades on Volnation? Is that appropriate nonacceptance?

Should I write a sternly worded letter to Dave Hart?

Should I stop attending or watching? How does that work exactly? I'm such a devoted fan that I'm going to stop supporting the program in anyway? Surely you can see hilarity in that.

If I'm going to "accept" it, I need to know how.

I understand where you are coming from..really do man. I just expect and demand more from this program and coaching staff, that's all. I know we don't have the talent like Bama, LSU, etc...but that performance was pitiful. Like I said, I guess Im just a spoiled rotten Alum who got lucky enough to witness all the golden years lol

You sir, are a troll. Or an idiot. Or both. I'm going with both. Do you follow football? Did you really think we would be back on top of the sec this year? My only concern with Jones was recruiting, he has answered that concern. We have not had elite defensive players since R. Garner left in 97. Jones is bringing in those type of players next year. In closing, you suck as a fan. Please, post less.

I'm quoting this just because....

Hey Roster, me and you are the same here lol We are passionate, tough fans that like to tell it like it is! We are outnumbered lol

We are outnumbered lol

And our other options are? I mean really WTF do you propose to do, fire a coach in his first year?

This team beat a South Carolina team that they had no business beating. Our coach outcoached long standing SEC head coaches in a few games this year with a talent thin roster of players that don't necessarily even fit his offensive philosophy.

Some of us are passionate about this team and have been many years. We hate the hell out of losing, we hate looking like hot garbage on the field against another team but we're not stupid enough to expect a turnaround immediately with substandard talent that doesn't even fit into a change in offensive and defensive philosophy.

Yes ...because tapping on the X button between seasons during the training session makes everybody faster

Yes -- The coaches should have turned Worley into Manning. Because every good coach has turned their average QB into a manning caliber QB ...thats why their are so dang many of them

Yes -- Freshmen QBs are supposed to produce at an elite level , they usually do. Thats why most coaches are eager to start freshmen ( seriously though ..Dobbs had the raw stats. If he just didnt have those 3 turnovers and actually put points on the board with the 8 trips inside the redzone ...this was a different game )

Heck yeah -- damn the depth issue . Our D front should play 80 snaps a game and get results for 4 quarters. This should be covered in the motivational speech . Endless depth is for teams like Alabama ...we just need 7 guys with no subs , that bleed orange.

Im ready to hear all the excuses in the world after that DISGRACEFUL display of football on Saturday. Now, I knew we really didn't have a chance at winning that game, and that's fine. But, you're telling me that we couldn't even score a touchdown...ONE TOUCHDOWN?!!! Speed or not enough speed, this is THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE! We aren't UTEP or some cupcake that rolls into Faurot Field, but that's how we played and its unacceptable! Our Vols played scrared and like little b#%tches. Tiny Richardson and Josh Smith need to get their act together. That drop for a TD was pitiful!

I know Ill get crucified for bi t ch ing and moaning and being negative but somebody has to step up once and a while and do it....ITS NEEDED! Quit coddling this team and making excuses for them. Again, I don't care that we lost..it was to be expected. But, for that team to come out and bumble the way they did is inexcusable. CJB knows it and it showed on his face the whole night. He looked so red in the face because he and our fans were embarrassed! I guarantee Dooley would have scored ONE touchdown with this same team..and hes the worst coach ever to walk the sidelines.

Yes, I will be happy with a 6-6 record and a bowl game win considering our brutal schedule. But, that performance was unacceptable and its alarming.

I've never understood why people feel like that is the magic that means you should never have bad performances or should always win. I know of no program, college or pro, that has been perfect in their sport. No one has ever won anything based on just their name.

the greatest college programs or professional programs all go through bad seasons and terrible game performances.

When I see that, we are the University of Tennessee, I try to rationalize how that gets us anything?? Still have to earn every play with effort of the coaches and players.

So you're saying guys like Al Wilson, Eric Berry and Raynoch Thompson were not elite?

Don't forget about Eric Westmoreland, Big John Henderson, Deon Grant, Fred White, Darwin Walker, Jabari Greer, Kevin Simon, Kevin Burnett....I can keep going...
