Complete utter disgrace and you shouldnt accept it!

When I see that, we are the University of Tennessee, I try to rationalize how that gets us anything?? Still have to earn every play with effort of the coaches and players.

"But we are UT" is the simpleton version of fanhood

So you're saying guys like Al Wilson, Eric Berry and Raynoch Thompson were not elite?

My point was this. When Garner was here, we got our pick of the top players in Ga. We still recruited well, but without that pipeline we were not as deep. JMO.

Most that follow recruiting would agree with that sentiment. IIRC Kiffin tried to get Garner here right?

And our other options are? I mean really WTF do you propose to do, fire a coach in his first year?

This team beat a South Carolina team that they had no business beating. Our coach outcoached long standing SEC head coaches in a few games this year with a talent thin roster of players that don't necessarily even fit his offensive philosophy.

Some of us are passionate about this team and have been many years. We hate the hell out of losing, we hate looking like hot garbage on the field against another team but we're not stupid enough to expect a turnaround immediately with substandard talent that doesn't even fit into a change in offensive and defensive philosophy.

This. Excellent post, DaddyChad.

There's a difference between being a passionate sports fan and being an unrealistic sports fan, and there's a difference between "tolerating" and "being happy/satisfied with". UTVolWarrior98 is being unrealistic in thinking we should be significantly better than we are right now, given the past half decade.

Chill out, Warrior. Neither the fans, nor the administration, "tolerate" mediocrity. If we did, we would have stuck with Dooley (or Fulmer). A coaching change doesn't mean an immediate return to the top. It took the BEST coach in college football 3 years to return one of the most storied programs in history to prominence.

We as fans have two choices: Be patient and focus on the positive signs of improvement along the way, or be impatient and expect to compete with the big dogs immediately, and cause your stress level and BP to skyrocket. I'll choose the former.

Ill admit, you make very valid points and put things in a different perspective lol Maybe its just a combo of being spoiled and being from Detroit...we are VERY tough on our teams and players haha

Why do you end nearly every post with either an "lol" or a "haha"...I have to know
