Complete utter disgrace and you shouldnt accept it!

Im ready to hear all the excuses in the world after that DISGRACEFUL display of football on Saturday. Now, I knew we really didn't have a chance at winning that game, and that's fine. But, you're telling me that we couldn't even score a touchdown...ONE TOUCHDOWN?!!! Speed or not enough speed, this is THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE! We aren't UTEP or some cupcake that rolls into Faurot Field, but that's how we played and its unacceptable! Our Vols played scrared and like little b#%tches. Tiny Richardson and Josh Smith need to get their act together. That drop for a TD was pitiful!

I know Ill get crucified for bi t ch ing and moaning and being negative but somebody has to step up once and a while and do it....ITS NEEDED! Quit coddling this team and making excuses for them. Again, I don't care that we lost..it was to be expected. But, for that team to come out and bumble the way they did is inexcusable. CJB knows it and it showed on his face the whole night. He looked so red in the face because he and our fans were embarrassed! I guarantee Dooley would have scored ONE touchdown with this same team..and hes the worst coach ever to walk the sidelines.

Yes, I will be happy with a 6-6 record and a bowl game win considering our brutal schedule. But, that performance was unacceptable and its alarming.

Dooley :eek:lol: really. Yeah you might be right. Because Dooley had Bray, Hunter, Rodgers, and Patterson. But oh yeah we only won 5 games last year with Dooley. You give Butch that kind of talent and we win a lot more games than Dooley ever thought of. It will change here at UT. Tennessee has the number two recruiting class right now on rivals.

It's not that we lost people. It's the WAY we lost.

We weren't even remotely competitive and that is UNACCEPTABLE !!!

Given our schedule and the status of the roster, it's reasonable to expect losses and a less than stellar record this year. However, it's also reasonable for fans to expect improvement over the previous staff and throughout the course of the season. Getting the utter crap beat out of us by Mizzou is NOT improvement.

We have taken a big step backwards since upsetting South Carolina. It's almost as if this team was satisfied by one or two instances of overachieving. It's the coaching staff's responsibility to not let these guys get complacent and to continue their improvement. That is not happening over the last two games and the fans have a right to point that out.

The bottom line is that Butch and Co. are not only responsible for the results 2 years from now, but they're responsible for the results now and that means meeting or exceeding reasonable expectations of improvement. That isn't happening over the last 2 ball games and they deserve to be called out on it.

Solid and reasonable post. Concur on all points.

Believe me, I know my Tennessee football, thanks. I probably go to more road games than you do home games, so back off. I know exactly where this program has been..its been a miserable 4 years! Again, all I am saying is that we are the Tennessee Volunteers and should be able to put up a touchdown or 2 in a game like that! lol It hurts and Im just a passionate UT Alum...don't know why people like to crucify passionate, wear your emotion on your sleeve type fans like myself?? Its all out of love for my Vols, I can assure you all that.

If you know so much about Tennessee"softball program and players, you would not be make these uninformed statements. I have attended Tennessee football games since 1946 and have members of my family play football at Tennessee and California Berkeley. The misery has been here for more than 4 years this go around and we have had years of not so good football in the past. Realize that the two requirements for fielding winning football teams in the SEC is having better football players than those teams we are playing and equal or better coaches than the teams we are playing. We have not had better players than most of the SEC teams we have played in the last 8-9 years and we have had inferior coaches than most of the SEC for the last four year. We now have the coaches to compete with the rest of the SEC and we are recruiting players who will compete with the rest of the SEC.The biggest differences in the Tennessee team this year is quality of players, both in experience and speed. Attitude and patience will produce the players and experience need with in the next three years. Don't lose you cool and appreciate the progress as it happens. You will feel much better with the results and we will not have withstand your rants.

don't assume anyone is thinking this loss is OK. I think all vol fans are pissed and the whole premise of this thread is bogus.

I would love to believe that and KNOW that this class has some good talent in it. That's getting the Vols half way there. The question mark is STILL whether the coaching will get UT the rest of the way there.

The Mizzou loss and a potential 6-6 finish... will NOT demonstrate the type of coaching needed to win the SEC EVER under this staff much less within two years.

I think you need to lay down the crack pipe.

If we get to 6 wins after losing a starting QB who is playing in the NFL, 2 starting WR's who are playing the NFL, a TE who is playing in the NFL and a starting olineman who is playing in the NFL, on a team with all that talent couldn't win 6 games last year, then the coaching staff has done something.

You spew this BS about all this talent, OK tell us who has all this talent?

A&M's defense is not anything to write home about!

Our defense is last in the SEC in rushing yards allowed. Statistically we are only marginally better than last year. Just sayin. I hope we beat the skins off of Auburn, but I am nervous.

How many points a game did Dooley's offense average last year? About 35 points a game. I think his offense could have scored one touchdown!

we come into the season with no established QB and no established receivers . The growth we got at QB was negated by an injury . Now we start a freshmen ( a ton of potential ) but still has typical freshman inconsistency. The receivers are still no where near established.

We have a young secondary . Dlinemen and LBs that have ZERO depth and are incapable of playing meaningful football beyond 1 half because of it . BTW these are the guys that posted the worst defense in 100 years last season.

Somehow , there are people that are disappointed that we were blown out by the #1 , #2, and #9 teams in the country. Somehow ...their football IQ did not tell them in advance that this was going to happen.

To those that are currently mystified : Improvement will happen but it will take time ..1 to 2 years.

Just another idiot statement by an excuse making sunshine pumper, who doesn't like people pointing out the unpleasant truth.

You sir, are a troll. Or an idiot. Or both. I'm going with both. Do you follow football? Did you really think we would be back on top of the sec this year? My only concern with Jones was recruiting, he has answered that concern. We have not had elite defensive players since R. Garner left in 97. Jones is bringing in those type of players next year. In closing, you suck as a fan. Please, post less.

We didn't play competitive or disciplined football at all. We had chances to get into the game and couldn't stop them on 3rd downs. Mizzoo was willing to punt and ran on several third and longs but we would still allow them to pick up first downs. They were also playing a freshman dwarf at QB and we made him look like Joe Montana. I am hoping it is just one of those games and we bounce back with an inspired performance Saturday.

The truth maybe ugly and not-very-polite , but it is what happened. Listless, distracted, emotionally flat ,lack of purpose or pride. Do we have to put with such as UT fans? Where is the pride that goes with wearing that T on your headgear ? I am surprised that Will Overstreet, Al Wilson and those guys haven't gone over there and slapped some of these current players around for sullying the BIG ORANGE HONOR. Vols didn't quit in the old days, ever- no matter the score. Dobbs ,although loaded with potential, needs some support from the other 10 guys , esp the vet line- he had zero. If anything, they played worse than any other time this year. I may lose, but I am betting may money on Auburn- final score Tigers by 20 to 25 pts.

This is not true. He was a good recruiter but we still brought in elite, top of the conference players well into the 2000's. I was also worried with recruiting and am truly impressed with the work Jones has done. The better players win the games and we are addressing that well this recruiting season.

I understand you hope , I want them to do good too...but the reality is ..well reality .
1 ) opposing Ds are going to key down all the way on our run game with no respect for the intermediate pass. Dobbs will have to get past having moments of greatness and produce consistently if we are to have a chance offensively.
2 ) we have no 3 deep on the the defensive front . We have maybe a 2 deep ..with freshmen and squad guys ..there is a huge fall off. Our front has about 1 to 2 quarters max . When 300 lb men get tired , they are done. No good team at any level can ask their down linemen to play 80+ snaps a game a be successful.
3 ) LBs are too big and slow for the 43...many were recruited for the 34 and the control gaps ...not run sideline to sideline and cover . No real depth there either.
4 ) see #2 . No pass rush is going to spell trouble for any secondary ..especially a young secondary . They have to cover 3 seconds ...but are under about a 5-6 second load. I cannot judge their talent or lack thereof because they have no real rush helping them .

There is no immediate quick fix to depth and QB development . Dont set your expectations high for Auburn. We have shots at UK and Vandy

True, but we didn't get enough to fill a team. 98 and 99 we were loaded. 2001 not as deep imo. We need to be a force recruiting in Ga. again. We are under Jones.

To me the beginning of the decline was that SEC title game loss in 2001 moreso than the loss of Garner. 2001 is possibly the most talented team we have ever put on the field and it looked like we would be good for a long time going into that year. Six defensive players were drafted in the 2002 draft from that team with two in the first fifteen picks. Six defensive players were drafted in 2003. Even five defensive players were drafted off the 2005 team that had a losing record. To me Georgia's ascent can be tied more to Garner than our decline.

so....how does DD coaching UT have anything to do with Toledo, Indiana, et al....connect those dots for me please....

Did any of those teams start an 18 yr old freshman who had participated in 2 whole quarters of NCAA football....you are as clueless as OP

Clueless?

I was comparing offenses that played the same team...Mizzou.

By tallent alone we probably have more future NFL quality playes than all those teams combined but the worst any of them was able to score was over 4 times as much as we did. I stand by my statement....alarming.
