For some reason when I google anything, even things like ESPN when I click the link it brings up another tab in Firefox and take me to a completely different place. I've down virus scans numerous times and spyware scans numerous times, even downloaded the lastest version of the spyware scanner and still didn't fix this. Anyone know why this is happening?

someone is bound to say it at some point, so i'll be first:

What kind of websites have you been visiting 182???

on a more serious note, is everything else on your computer running at a normal pace or is everything, ie, Microsoft Office, games, iTunes, Media Player slow?

Get Adaware and Spybot S&D and run them each... also use Spybot to "immunize" your system against some of the most common attacks.

I had a major slowdown issue with my machine recently, turned out it was the tray system for Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro.

Download Avast anti virus. Install it and run the boot time scanner. Delete everything it finds. Then disable all add-ons for your browser or better yet, uninstall it, delete ALL files and folders and registry entries, then reinstall. This is assuming you use Firefox exclusively.

I already have both of those.

I tried downloading different anti virus software last night but can't because it won't let me on any of their websites. It just said page cannot be found or network error.

Talked to a local computer repair shop and they said it was definitely a virus and the only way to fix it was to wipe the system clean...but it'll cost 85 dollars. Anyone have any other ideas. It won't let my go into avast website or any other spyware or antivirus website to wipe it off. Any ideas?

You could do the reformat yourself... Do you have a windows install disk? It really isn't that hard...

That's highway robbery. All you do is stick the disk in, boot it up, and follow the directions.

Use a different PC and download Avast onto a USB stick. Install, run. If it won't install, try safe mode.
