has the pac 10 really been that good this year to warrant the high computer rankings. sagarin has the pac10 in 1st and the sec in 2nd in the conference rankings too

Sagarin's ratings rely, in part, on SOS. Of course, out of the top 10 SOS's in the nation, 9 are Pac 10 and the #11 team is the last Pac 10 team.

You guys will most likely be 7 or 8 in the BCS (and deservedly so), so who cares what the CPUs spit out?

I'm not so sure ND, I'm preparing for the worst.

Nice second half against Navy, the first half was a dogfight for you guys.

We won't be any higher than 9th in the BCS. I have a feeling that USC will be higher than us either way.

It is stupid. UF is the only team that isn't Pac 10 in the top 10(9th). Basically, their SOS's are so high because they play each other. Because of this, losing to each other doesn't hurt their ratings.

I won't hold my breath, but thanks for the positive outlook.

Of course, all this worrying over the computers and polls will mean nothing if we can't beat LSU and Arkansas.

Tennessee would be a lock for the BCS championship game if we played in the Pac-10 this year.

I say 9 or 10, but 7 or 8 would be nice.

Well, Auburn struggled, USC obviously lost (and ruined any chance of ND ending up in meaninful bowl), Texas rallied against a mediocre team - ND has done everyone of those things this season and consistenly slid down the polls (to which I really can't disagree with). I just think a team with one loss by ONE point probably deserves to be higher than 9th or 10th. But - who knows? I'm still surprised that Texas is rewarded for playin D-IAA schools and West Virgina is hailed as a BCS contender by playing no one...

The problem is that, most of the time, it doesn't matter how you win but that you win.

You obvisouly didn't listen to Desmond Howard's little tyrade about "style points" yesterday. He pointed to ND having to scrape by GT (who is going to win the ACC), MSU (awful) and UCLA (awful) as evidence to the fact that it does in fact matter how you win. Don't get me wrong - I agree with you - win and everything else will take care of itself. But with so many 1 loss teams this year, I do think the manner in which teams win is being factored into the human polls.

Slightly off topic, but picture this: Michigan beats OSU by 1 or 2 points - with the disparity between those teams in BCS standings could possibly allow for a rematch for the BCS Champ. game. Disgusting.
