With the news that Nebraska is likely to move to the Big Ten (11) and the fallout being the end of the Big 12 with Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ok State and Colorado moving to the Pac-10, I believe we will see SEC expansion after the end of this upcoming season. If this ends up happening what you will likely see is the SEC raiding the ACC.

All of this right now is speculation until it's made official but let's assume everything plays out as expected. I see the SEC inviting the following schools to it's ranks:

Georgia Tech - Logical choice and a founding member of the SEC
Florida State OR Miami - Either school makes sense, I don't see both of them coming but at least one of them would
Virginia Tech - This is a no brainer to me, one of the strongest programs in the league by a mile
Clemson - Inconsistent program but a solid addition

All of these schools could end up in the league with the SEC potentially dropping Miss. State or Vandy.

There are a number of things that could happen and my opinion is likely as flawed as anyone else's but I can say with near certainty that if the Pac-10 and Big Ten expand to 16 teams, the SEC will do the same and soon.

Kansas, Kansas St., and Baylor are all going to get screwed in this deal I know Baylor isn't exactly a national power, but they do bring high academic standards (like Vandy in the SEC).

Heard some speculation that Kansas and K. State could join the Big East, but that just creates a travel nightmare.

I was of the same mind as you, but have changed my mind.

GTech, FSU, Miami, and Clemson add no new territory to the conference. Trust me, that's what its all about. New subscribers to the SEC Network. In the 'old' days, these would be the best additions, but not today.

I'd say Virginia Tech and Texas A&M are the best schools we could add. (Trust me, we don't want the Whorns and their bloated visions of self worth).

I say go after Virginia Tech and A&M. If we MUST go to 16 teams, add UNC and some other school (possibly Maryland or Duke).

Everyone forgets about Iowa State. What about them?

Most logical choice would be for those guys to join the MWC or WAC.

For that reason, I don't get why people don't think we should go after NC State instead of GT or Clemson.

We've already got a Georgia team, we've already got a South Carolina team, but we don't have a team in North Carolina. And the North Carolina TV markets are much better than what VA Tech brings to the table.
