With the news that Nebraska is likely to move to the Big Ten (11) and the fallout being the end of the Big 12 with Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ok State and Colorado moving to the Pac-10, I believe we will see SEC expansion after the end of this upcoming season. If this ends up happening what you will likely see is the SEC raiding the ACC.
All of this right now is speculation until it's made official but let's assume everything plays out as expected. I see the SEC inviting the following schools to it's ranks:
Georgia Tech - Logical choice and a founding member of the SEC
Florida State OR Miami - Either school makes sense, I don't see both of them coming but at least one of them would
Virginia Tech - This is a no brainer to me, one of the strongest programs in the league by a mile
Clemson - Inconsistent program but a solid addition
All of these schools could end up in the league with the SEC potentially dropping Miss. State or Vandy.
There are a number of things that could happen and my opinion is likely as flawed as anyone else's but I can say with near certainty that if the Pac-10 and Big Ten expand to 16 teams, the SEC will do the same and soon.
