Go back to 11 game regular seasons. Axe the championship games. Top 16 teams get into playoffs. If you finish 17th then you should have did something different in the season. Don’t cry.

Think about baseball last spring...

We were the SEC regular season and tournament champs. We bragged about it.

Then, Ole Miss won the whole thing.

Who do you think felt better in the end?

How would you have felt if we only had the regular season sweep in Oxford, we had no hardware, and they won in Omaha?

For me, it softened the blow knowing we made the champs our b**ch.

Lost me at “Kim Mulkey.”

Just because she has a forcefully delivered opinion on everything doesn’t mean she holds any definitive answers.

Yes, That was my initial thought as well. I was at the 2022 SEC Women's Basketball tournament in Nashville.

I felt terrible for all the LSU fans who showed up, only to see her play several second string girls most of the game.

But, she ended up being right. Kentucky women used all their energy to win the tournament. Then, I think they lost in first round of NCAA.

Same story with the Vols men's basketball team last year. We won SEC touney....but in the big dance....

After seeing how Tennessee was "rewarded" for winning the SEC tournament, I wouldn't mind seeing Barnes sit our starters and play backups this season.

If it has zero impact on seeding, what's the point?

That was ridiculous. "We see what you did, it is impressive, but we don't really care cause we already decided"

Personally, I would take their 2022 season over our version. Always nice to win the final game of the year.

For example at first base, in the end, I think the Ole Miss first baseman felt better about the season than Luc.

But, I do indeed see that angle.

Conference tournaments are, IMO, a waste of time and effort. They exist primarily to make money. A 16-game regular season schedule
is a LOT of games and produces a valid conference champ. To turn around immediately after the end of the long regular season and play
a tournament to crown another champ seems too much. It's superfluous. Teams are tired--and most of the top teams in the conference already know they'll be in the NCAA tourney. There's also this: If the regular season champ doesn't win the tourney, then you've got 2 teams making the claim to be SEC champ.

However, the horse is out of the barn with these things--pretty much everybody has an end-of-season tourney in every sport--even though a lot of people
don't find them necessary or compelling. Of course bottom of the table league teams value the tourney as a last chance to get in the Big Dance--but I'm not sure why anybody deserves a second chance after playing 16 conference games. That's plenty of evidence as to whether you've got a decent, NCAA-worthy team or not.

Hasn't Mulkey taken heat lately for failing to show support for her former players at Baylor?

Pat seemed to make them a priority.

I actually gave this some thought.

Pat played the SEC tourney like regular season games.

Then, she would use the first two rounds of the NCAA's (always in Knoxville) to give her starters significant rest.

Purely a money maker game

Yup!

Even our women's soccer team got in on the action last week. They had a televised game on SEC network,

Gave a lackluster effort, and lost, but it made $$$ in advertising.
