Kentucky or not, the Vols should be happy to end the season with a W.

My thoughts after returning from the game:

Neither team really wanted to win the game. Kentucky's failure to capitalize on crucial turnovers doomed them. I had a feeling that if the Cats cashed in TDs on the turnovers, then we see a more even game.

Kentucky's RB, Rafael Little, made a really dumb comment in the postgame. He said that he underestimated the Vols, since they lost to Vandy. It's just stupid, when you're Kentucky, to take any opponent for granted.

Tennessee's following was well-represented. Their band was top-notch. I did get a little tired of hearing Rocky Top, though. :biggrin2:

I have a feeling that like Tennessee, we'll see a few assistants fired in the next few days. The pressure is on for Brooks, who no longer has the excuse of probation. Next year's schedule lines up pretty good, with home games against Texas State, Central Michigan, Louisiana-Monroe, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. And we get Mississippi State on the road. 6-6 or better for Brooks, or he will be finished, IMO. It could happen. We started so many freshmen this year, that they will be more seasoned in 2006, and we will get back a baker's dozen of starters who didn't play much of the 2005 season due to injuries.

Congratulations on the win, and good luck rebuilding in the Spring.

Thanks for being so classy, Brian. Actually, I was surprised at how our guys played yesterday. Sure, they didn't do everything perfect, and made some silly mistakes, but overall, I was very pleased with their effort. I know you are proud of your guys, because they sure didn't give up, but unlike the rest of the year, things just kinda fell into place for us at times yesterday. Again, thanks for being a classy poster, and post regularly. Good luck the rest of the way.

Thanks Brian. We'd love to have you stick around. It's nice to have the perspective of an opposing fan who is willing to be levelheaded.

Of course, you're probably being so classy since you know that you guys will be able to exact revenge a couple of times here soon when we meet up in basketball. :D

Sure, why not!

It seems that our Athletics Director, Mitch Barnhart, who is no stranger to UT, is doing his best to clone Tennessee's women's basketball success for UK Hoops (the name for Women's Basketball at Kentucky).

I'm curious what your thoughts are concerning our coach, ex-asst. coach for Tennessee, Micki DeMoss. If you were in Commonwealth Stadium yesterday, you likely saw the life-size posters of her hanging in the commons areas. So far, I like what I see. Women's basketball at UK has been abysmal for the longest time, which is surprising, given the men's success.

You'd think that as long as she worked for Pat Summitt, something had to rub off.

Micki knows her stuff for sure, and she's a great recruiter. I don't think her style is quite as in your face as Pat's is, although I can't say for sure. I think it's a great hire for UK.
