I will say this...I thought Azanni was wrong all year for playing Josh Smith as much as he does. He NEVER fails to drop a crucial pass each game. He's a sure bet to kill at least one scoring drive per game. Croom had one drop that I can remember, but Josh Smith is consistently dropping passes. Mizzou spread us out with an array of big WR's and ran at will on us. We have 3 BIG WR's and we could take the same type of approach...but we stubbornly refuse to. Instead, we leave one of our biggest WR's on the bench and play Sir Drops-A-Lot, instead.
Our WR group should be North, Croom, Harris and Pig. Johnson, Smith and Blanc should only play in a backup role.
On defense...I'm afraid my initial reservations about Janzek are appearing to be true. We are better than last year, in most games, but I'm afraid we aren't playing anywhere near our talent level...except for Daniel Hood. He's way undersized...like a TE playing DT...and he's just bad. I'd rather start with O'Brien or Saulsberry.
I do think we'll improve dramatically, between now and next fall, on offense, though. Dobbs showed some good things tonight. It's just a shame he has to be thrown in playing the No.1 and No.9 teams in the country.
