Pretty good to see big bro back in victory lane. I was hoping my man Edwards could have held him off, but he deserved the win after leading so many laps.

Cant stand Kurt but it was nice to see someone different win. If Jimmie, Carl or Kyle won again I was going to scream! LOL

Polish victory lap? That was made famous by Alan Kulwicki and Rusty Wallace

I wouldn't really call it a Polish victory lap. didn't he do it the normal way with the car in reverse?................... He needs to work on his backwards steering a little....:)

he actually commented in the press conference he was worried about the front end coming back around. said he was surprised at how high the reverse was. the gist of the explanation:

reporter: where did that come from?
Busch: me and my buddies came up with it after drinking a few too many Miller Lites. turns to Roger Penske: i can say that right?
The Captain: absolutely

i believe it's now named the 'Don Johnson'.

It was just before I started watching NASCAR, but I remember seeing clips of Rusty and Earnhardt doing a polish victory lap at the same with one of them carrying a #7 Kulwicki flag and the other a #28 Allison flag. Think it might have been the last race in 1993 in Atlanta?

wouldn't NASCAR have had to call a caution for the tire being out there anyway?

Yes. I don't know what the big deal is really. What the guy did was idiotic, but it's not like Nascar was just going to leave the tire there. I doubt that Nascar would have allowed green flag stops to have cycled through anyway. If there was a spin like Labonte had just a little bit later and he made contact with the tire then everyone in the pit area would be in a real bad position.

Yes that is correct. I remember when Rusty won the race in california (or vegas) after Dale Sr.'s death. The race was on Sr's birthday and he did a polish victory lap with a "number 3" flag. I disliked Earnhardt, but that was super cool.

My bad, I actually didn't see the end of the race. I read (and others told me) he went around backwards. I didn't think he actually drove backwards. I assumed he just drove around the track in the opposite direction.

I think nascar made it a big deal bc the guy put himself in harms way (what if a fan did something like that). But as far as all the drivers blaming the poor guy for screwing up the race, I agree with you. Caution would have came out either way, but maybe they could have waited a few mor seconds so not as many drivers would lose a lap

He did drive backwards. Drove in reverse he did.
