They won the SoCon? I thought they were just tourney champs - this isn't football with championship games that determine the regular season champs of leagues.

But, don't kid yourself, they lucked out CoC knocked off Davidson in the semis. They aren't a good match up for UTC. And I'm not hating on Chattanooga - I used to attend UTC.

I am also hoping for a good showing from the other 2 teams from East Tennessee...the Mocs and the Bucs. Too bad they don't have a real shot at winning one though.

HAHA I have to agree, but it would be an amazing story if they pulled it off.

They can shoot the 3, hopefully they will be on today and not get blown out!

For the record, I was very disappointed when I found out that Mocs stands for Mockingbirds.
Too bad the final four can't end up with Memphis/UTC ETSU/UT

Jimmy Fallon did a great job with this. I am suprised he put that much effort into it. Good luck Mocs, hope you score more than 20 points!

It stands for Moccasins, I thought.

The term "Mocs" does stand for Moccasins, although in the 90's UTC change their mascot from an Indian ( I think his name was something like Chief Moccasin.) to a mockingbird riding a train (Chattanooga Choo-Choo reference). I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me.

This is what I saw on Wikipedia:

In 1996, due in to concerns over ethnic sensitivity, the Moccasins name and image were dropped in favor of the shortened "Mocs" and an anthropomorphized mockingbird named "Scrappy" dressed as a railroad engineer. The school's main athletic logo features Scrappy riding a train (a reference to Chattanooga's history as a major railroad hub and to the song "Chattanooga Choo Choo"). The mascot takes its name from former football coach A.C. "Scrappy" Moore.

Since when?

late '90s. It's all part of the whole be sensitive to Indians NCAA push.

They could have just kept it as a water moccasin type deal, but went with a mockingbird riding a train, based of the whole railroad hub/Chattanooga Choo Choo theme

Mocs doesn't "stand" for mockingbird. They are the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs. Their mascot is the mockingbird.

The schools main athletic logo is now just a 'C'... the secondary logos are now bird oriented...

I took the Chattanooga job on NCAA Basketball 09. It was the available position that was the most intriguing to me. I didn't think they could get this far without me as the coach. Apparently, they can. :p Chris Early is a star on that game.

Whatever! My point was simply that it was surprising to find that out about UTC.
It would be easy to interpret that they are the UTC Mockingbirds, considering a Moc isn't anything at all...while their mascot is a Mockingbird.

The Mocs have a much better chance at winning today than Jimmy Fallon has of EVER being funny.
He's officially the worst full-time cast member SNL has ever had. How on Earth did he get his own show?
