That's my fear. For all the history of schools like Vandy loosing coaches, the money goes around so much now that no longer has to be the case. Look at Boise and TCU, their coaches should have been poached long ago but it hasn't happened. I would be surprised to see Franklin leave after this season or next.
The other thing about Vandy, if all it takes is money to win, they have money. In the past they just didn't want to spend money on sports (For proof, look at their basketball court. It was built so they could convert it to a theater when basketball lost it's relevance). But now if their big money people want to win in football, they could turn around like Oregon and Stanford have. Nashville is an attractive place for a high school student, big city, nice location on west end. And being a private school they can really create just about any major they want.
Now I'm not saying I expect Vanderbilt to suddenly become a powerhouse, I'm just saying that in this day and time, they could be successful if Franklin has the stomach for it.
I know no one gives a tinkers damn right now but I have always been impressed by long suffering fans like Vanderbilt. Any yahoo can proudly pull for Bama, UF,LSU,UGA, UT when things are great but are they really true fans? So tonight with a heavy heart and plate full of humble pie I say congratulations to VU and their program. Go Vols.
When will the Gruden decision be resolved one way or the other so we can move on to other options if necessary ? I hope Gruden does not drag it out so that other schools that need a coach have a jump on us....
