Congressman Duncan says Afgans are ungrateful

He's an idiot to think that they're supposed to be grateful for us destroying their country and then kinda trying to rebuild it.

There are some things that money can't replace. It's not hard to understand why some people would be "ungrateful."

You don't have a clue what you're talking about

If ignorance is bliss you must be having a good day.

When most of the country's population had absolutely nothing to do with why we invaded, what should they be grateful for? There's a foreign entity in their country and they don't want us there, no matter what we're doing. American Imperialism.

By that line of reasoning, we'd never go to war.

Again, why should they be grateful that we're occupying their country?

Other than displacing one of the most despotic, oppressive regimes in the world, I have no idea.

"grateful" is probably a bad word to describe our expectations of them. They have spent decades being ravaged by war and Sharia Law. Their reaction is not all that surprising.

All we're doing is bombing the brown people, right? /sarcasm

I think he's pointing out we've done some good things over there... believe it or not. Disagree with the policy, but don't act like we haven't helped out with food and aid.

FWIW, I tend to agree with him. Time to go.

And spending beaucoup bucks helping to develop their infrastructure.

I know a few people over there right now working with the government to develop centers of agricultural production, fisheries, chicken houses, etc. Using simple, modern, inexpensive, but effective methods that many in their country are unaware of.

I will say though, they all say the people they work with have seemed very grateful...

I'm with the Afghanis on this one. I don't think Duncan sees this as clearly as the Afghanis do. They know what their country was like before we showed up, I don't, and Duncan doesn't. Trading Taliban for drone bombers and endless occupation may be an easy call from Duncan's perspective, but again, he's not the one living through it.

Hard to argue with this logic.

I just don't think we're goose-stepping in there like some would have you believe. I have no problem if someone wants to disagree with the reason we're there, but don't act like it's ok for them to kill our soldiers, etc. when they (the soldiers) think they're there to help.... and have done quite a lot there.

This bombing the brown people stuff gets really old, really fast. Plus, just because I wasn't there doesn't mean it's too far of a stretch to think it was pretty bad under the Taliban.

Like I said earlier, it's time to go. I'm done hearing about this crap.

In all seriousness, this made me realize I haven't mentioned Ron Paul in a while. Probably at least a week (and it's been longer since I argued with anybody about him). Any way I can check some VN stats to get that data? :)
