Has any team administered more upset losses to Tennessee with something on the line than South Carolina?

• 1992 - cost Tennessee appearance in SECCG
• 2016 - cost Tennessee appearance in SECCG
• 2022 - cost Tennessee possible playoff berth

If one has, I’m not old enough to have witnessed it, and I’m 52. The 1992 and 2016 USC teams finished with losing records.

2001 loss to miss the rose bowl is mine.
I had tickets. I’ll never get over that one.
This one could be remembered as growing pains as we learn how to win at the elite level again.

If memory serves we had to go for 2 after a Mose Phillips TD as there wasn’t overtime in college football yet. A tie would have put us 1/2 game behind Florida in the East. If that hadn’t been in play that game likely would have ended in a tie.
