With the news of Worley being out and Dobbs starting. This is now Dobbs team and if how he performed for two quarters against Alabama is any indication of how he will play all the time I believe he is a great fit. But my point is with CBJ at the helm and Dobbs starting now, we could have the same QB and coach for four straight years. Hopefully coach longer though of course. But this excites me for the future. The future is now and unlike the past 5 years we should have stability at head coach and QB. Two positions stability is key

Dobbs youth concerns me. Obviously he can do some really awesome things and make plays. Let's no forget that he's a true freshman who was 4th string at the beginning of the year because he turned the ball over too much in practice.

I'm all for riding with Josh. Just be aware young guys can make game losing plays too.

I'd love nothing more than for him to turn it on and kill it the rest of his career but be careful getting your hopes up.

I'm worried he could make some mistakes. I also worried Worley would too. I worried palardy would miss game winner against sC.

Mizzou is fresh off of a meltdown against USCjr and they only have the second half of last week's game to go off of to prepare for Dobbs. The potential for Dobbs and Butch for four years is easy to understand. It's not rocket science.

I see what you did there :lolabove: but I have seen the coaching staff working with his throwing motion at each of the last home games pre-game...Its the difference in accuracy of throwing a football and throwing a baseball, He was more of a baseball short stop rotating/bending his body than throwing than a QB stand talling over the top throw.

There is no question Dobbs got initiated by fire in about as hot of a furnace as can be imagined. But as stated earlier, the real trick will be to remain consistent without turnovers against teams that have speed (Miz) and play smashmouth (Aub)

The good thing is, once he actually gets to play Vandy and Ky, its going to feel like running downhill after what he has been through (same for the rest of the team as well).

I know there will be mistakes. He's a freshman. I get that. But it's just that. He's a freshman. When he makes a mistake we can know that he can/ should only get better. Unlike Worley, who I have the utmost respect for, is a junior and you don't really know how much better he could get.

No need to worry about mistakes he may or may not make. This is the hand we have been dealt. Worley is out til the end of regular season. Almost everyone has been wanting to see Dobbs or Ferguson, so now we will see. I have all the confidence in the world that J Dobbs or R Ferguson will give their all for TN. Wish Worley a speedy recovery. He's a VFL.

I am kind of worried about our back up situation. Dobbs will flourish in Jones's offense, I have no doubt about that but our depth at QB now is very thin.

Worley's total playing time over 3 years equals about one year experience. A little here in this system, and a little there in another system. He will get better.

I don't remember seeing that anywhere as to why he was '4th string.' I just recall that Jones wanted both his Freshmen to save their redshirts, and it was neck and neck with Ferguson.

Dobbs will only improve.
For those who think he hung 10 on Bama's scrubs, go back and watch it again.
Dobbs played against Bamas starters and put up more points in 30 minutes than 5 other teams did in 60 minutes this season. V Tech managed 10 in 60.
Beginners luck? Not against #1.
Dobbs gets it.

It is what it is and now we have a true freshman starting as our QB with very limited time for practrice snaps with the starters.

Mizzou has a very good D and they'll blitz alot to keep him nervous and to try to force mistakes.

We all know they'll stack the box to stop our running game and force us to beat them passing the football against their blitzing.

Now is the time for our WR's and TE's to get totally focused and to catch every ball that's thrown in their direction no matter what.

Our O linemen and RB's must give him max protection and stop those blitzers long enough for him to throw a decent pass for consistent completions.

They may stop our running game but if we consistently complete 5 to 7 yard passes that get out quick before the blitzers can get their then that's good enough to keep the chains moving, keep the Mizzou O on the sidelines and get us the road WIN that we need to make the next important step in the process to Winning.

After seeing what USCe did to Mizzou in the 4th quarter last week I honestly believe our Vols can come home with a very important road WIN!

It's time to get PHYSICAL and play some Tennessee smashmouth football!
