It seems to me that for the past few years, if the Lady Vols already had a projected #1 seed going into the NCAA tourney, they would come oh-so-close to winning the SEC, but would fall short, as in this year's game. My conspiracy theory is this: if the SEC already HAS one team assured of a seed in the tourney, why blow the SEC automatic bid on that team? Was Vandy already assured of an invitation to the tournament or did they need today's win? I'm pretty sure I remember LSU needing last year's victory to get there.
