My predictions on some economic indicators:

Dow: 10,200
Oil (per barrel): $85
Gold (per oz): $915

Your predicitons? Other indicators you would like to consider? We will dredge this up at the end of the year.

Bank Closures

I predict LG will still be buying what BO is selling. Not going out on a limb there, I might as well have predicted the sun will rise tomorrow.

Why does a one day snapshot matter?

The scariest thing will be when the economy does start to show some life and people confusing that life as a product of all this nonsense.

Aren't the first and last ones more of indicators as to how the bailout did? I'm sure they are interrelated as to how the economy is doing, but it seems like the middle two are more pure economic indicators.

unemployment: 12.3%

stimulus money spent: 21%

LG's defense of Obama: shaky, at best

I say your stimulus money spent is spot on, I'm going to say your unemployment is a bit high...no higher than 10.5, I say.

I would be surprised at double digit unemployment by the end of the year, but it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I have always been expecting it to peak late summer, but they keep on pushing it back, so who knows. I was hoping for no higher than 9% by the end of the year, but I'm not sure I'm going to get that wish.

There are many jobs that take a huge hit during the colder weather. The sagging economy may force many of these companies to reduce the pay roll over the winter to keep their heads above water. With this in mind I expect to see an increase in job losses.

I would also guess that the seasonal holiday jobs are going to be less plentiful as folks scale back on their holiday plans.

I did not think about the seasonal holiday jobs. I believe during a normal year they would more than make up for the cold season job losses, though this year will probably see a pretty steep decline in seasonal holiday jobs as well.
