A congratulations goes out to Tea Cooper (TC) for her accomplishment! :clapping:2016 SEC Women's Basketball Awards

With the right direction, her skill set could really lead us in the future.

Fun Fact: Sophia Cunningham (SC) of Missouri won the Freshman of the Year. SC has 64 To's for the year and averages 13.8 pts (14 ppg 2.2 TO a game). TC has 79 To's for the year and 8.9 pts (9 ppg and 2.7 TO a game). Should be noted, SC is not a pg and doesn't handle the ball, and her coach has set plays for her to come off screens and score, while TC points are more her attacking and scoring her own points.

Good job for Te'a. Instead of hitting the proverbial freshman wall, she has gotten better as the season has gone along.

Te'a is a keeper, I just hope we can keep her. In the hands of the right coach, she could be a very disruptive player to other teams. You can tell she has the it factor.

I totally agree. Hopefully next season she will have a new coach because she dominated in high school and I think that can translate to college with the right staff.

What a lovely Spring day it is!

Yes,it is but I just hope a giant solar flare does not engulf us all in a hellish fireball that ends human existence in one ghastly moment of unimaginable agony...

As a Lady Vol fan, it has already been a hellish basketball season full of unimaginable agony...maybe, just maybe this was a prelude to what you just described. However, maybe it is just a big nightmare we will wake up from and realize that there is hope at the end the storm.

I agree it has been a unpleasant season for LV fans. For funsies, though why not try making just one post, say on a LV accomplishment, that does not constantly refer to back to doom and gloom. We get a player on the SEC all-freshman team and, gee, I hope she does not transfer...

I really do appreciate frustration over this season (which I fully share) but why rain on every single (albeit fairly rare) parade that does come along? Its like stomping a flower in bloom because it might release pollen.

If you are allergic to pollen that might be the proper approach. Unfounately, it is difficult in any bad situation to see the light at the end of a tunnel filled with unnecessary roadblocks. If you are one of the people who can see a speck of blue, in a sky filled with gray clouds, you are indeed one of the few lucky ones. In a bad situation people grieve differently. In reality, the best way of grieving a bad situation is left up to each individual. The hammer has fallen so many times after something good has happen to this team. Presently we do not have a clue which direction this program is headed. I believe most of us are hopeful.
This program needs a mindset change which can only happen with a sustained positive move forward.

That's TeacherDean's m.o! He/She has been like that since post #1!

That is simply not true if you will go back and read every one of my post. You do not have a clue what my M.O.S. is and I could care less what yours is, if you have one. However, I will not defend my opinions to you. If you don't agree with me that is your prerogative. I will admit that for a while I have had my ups and downs with this program, I believe that such is my right. So the only suggestion I have is hit the ignore button, life will go on.:eek:k:

Congratulations are in order for Te'a Cooper. Thank you Te'a. Bashing the staff should not be a part of this thread, IMO.

Congratulations to T'ea. No LV players on All-SEC first OR second teams. Another dubious first. :ermm:

I don't put much stock in this as Cooper--let's be frank--has not had a good year. Does she have talent and potential? Yea, but she has the taken more shots than anybody but DeShields and has the team's lowest shooting percent. She has as many turnovers as assists. Her last games was by far her best of the season, so let's hope she can keep up the good play.

I don't know why you wouldn't put stock in it. Carter was on the SEC all freshman team and Graves was SEC freshman of the year and just look how much they developed under Holly's coaching.

Seven High School All-Americans on the roster and not a single one could make the All SEC first or second team. That's really incredible. And people wonder why Holly can't find anyone to play for her....

If Tennessee had some sort of offensive system, these players would look totally different. They have to try to create a lot because there are no sets to run. I'm not trying to rain on any parade, anything positive with this team is a plus, but if Holly returns next season this program is dead. We really need a strong coach. No one will fear/respect the Lady Vols with Holly Warlick as the HC. Anything they will be licking their chops seeing the Lady Vols as a prey. How can Holly convince any Elite recruit to come play for her? She has been exposed this season and the chatter/rumors on the recruiting circuit has come to fruition. This program will not succeed with this current staff. I'm thinking long term. One bad recruiting year will set you back, but 2 years can really hurt your program badly. My top 6 for next season would be Notre Dame, South Carolina, Baylor, Maryland, UConn, Louisville. All these teams are loaded. We have to at least sign a top 3 class to even become a threat and I don't see us doing it with this current staff.

when it comes to a guard, give me assist-to-turnovers ratio at at least 2 a to 1 to.

pts to to's is a SG stat

Reynolds has by far the best assist-to-turnover ratio among our guards. Cooper has taken too many shots--second most on the team--and that's not what we need from a freshman PG who's the worst shooter on the team, by percentage, especially when facing zone defenses most of the year. And we wonder why we've struggled?
