Cooper Mays interview

What were the updates? Cliff notes?
Talked about his faith and how important that has been to him through all of this,. He said McKenzie Milton has taken it upon himself to check on him, text him, and encourage him with scripture. Milton had that bad injury under Heupel at UCF and was never the same.

Talked about being a leader on the team from the sideline and help his teammates get better.

Said he likes Addison Nichols a lot. He's a huge, strong guy who has all the physical tools.

Thinks Ollie Lane (who's gotten most reps at center in Cooper's absence) is right up there with the best in terms of understanding the role. He's gotten a lot better and knows what he needs to be doing.

He's impressed with Karic. He's a smaller guy but knows how to translate power with his hips. He plays hard and violent.

I’m confused. Hooker says at the 5:40 mark, “I want to be clear Cooper is nowhere near in that situation (in reference to McKenzie Milton). He’s going to have a great senior year and pro career.”

Watching Cooper when he says it, it seems that Cooper totally agrees

Why are you guys saying he won’t be back like we thought?

I'm with you here, it didnt seem like anything more than Mc Milton just giving him some encouragement until hes back. Heupel has been sticking to being back for Virginia for a couple weeks now. He was clear on Tillman last year as well.

Not sure what you mean. It felt like we were hearing he could be back any week for several weeks with him last year.

From what I heard, it sounds like he should be back, but CJH's claim he'll hopefully be back by UVA isn't happening. Maybe by the UF game? Let's all pray.

What was the surgical procedure?

I heard one reference to it and it may have been a slip up on one of the radio shows. Heard a beat writer mention a minor hernia (maybe flank hernia). The recovery time seems to match.

This isn’t rock solid information but I remember mentally noting that was the first time I heard it when he said it.

Karic is listed at 6-6, 310. That’s smaller?
