This is the shocking moment a police sergeant punched a young woman in the face because he thought she sprayed silly string at him during a peaceful parade.

The video was recorded during yesterday's 50th anniversary Puerto Rican Day parade in Philadelphia - where around 1,500 people were in attendance.

and the police union is supporting him fully

This ought to be an easy decision. “You are fired.”

The decision needs to be more than, "You are fired". That "Public Servant" should be charged with assault and battery.

Did he take it too far? Maybe. At the same time, don't throw something into a cop's face.

Let's accept the counterfactual claim that this lady was the one who threw something in the cop's face:

What world do you live in that you think it is nearly justified to punch someone in the face who is walking away from you after throwing either water or silly string in your face?

I think it was simply a reaction. I doubt he gave it much thought at the time to what it was.

Are cops special people or something?

A badge makes him no different!!!

No, cops are not special. They shouldn't be afforded more rights than what the rest of us have. That being said, if some random stranger through something in your face, what would you do?

A simple reaction? He takes five steps to hit a lady that is walking away from him.

Not follow them for five steps and then sucker punch them. If I did, I would expect to be charged and convicted with assault and battery.

Ok. I went back and watched the video and now change my opinion. Also, I read the comments under the video and found that she wasn't the one that threw something at the cops. There was a guy that did it a second or so prior to her turning around. That cop should be prosecuted. Carry on.

Question for the cops on the board: what would it take for you to slap cuffs on a fellow cop and arrest him on the spot? I assume if he shot her another cop would have moved to arrest him. Where is the line? Curious.
