This is big. ESPN doing this would pretty much end my need of ever having cable. Just need CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX for football weekends in the fall.

Yes, and I'm with Sith...if I could watch sports and HBO online, I would not have a satellite. I don't feel the need to be current on my shows. I can watch a year after the fact on Netflix.

Awesome. I have been waiting for this domino to fall.

This route is cable/satellite's worst nightmare.

I have no sympathy for them when they go down. They have screwed over their customer base for years. There is no good reason to withhold channels from being purchased a la carte, but they make you bundle and buy channels you don't want...which is supposed to be against anti-trust law, but for some reason they never get busted for it. Croneyism is my best guess as to how they get away with it.

Saw this on Twitter in response to CBS announcing a streaming service:

Nation's Grandkids To Have "Special Job for You" Waiting for Them the Next Time They Visit Nation's Grandparents

I laughed.

But then I see a statement like this and realize were potentially in the same spot a couple years down the road. Hope that's not the case but those left behind on cable only will latch on or die

Sony is readying an Internet product that is expected to include live and on-demand programming from Viacom, the parent of MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central networks.

I see the potential in this for cable/sat channels. However the big five networks & PBS is already free. All you need is rabbit ears or an antenna to get ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, theCW & PBS and all of there digital sub-channels!
