Tennessee needs to win out and needs UGA to lose to Bama (or LSU tonight but c'mon) to clinch the #4 seed in the SEC tourny. This would force a tie in the standings.

But the tie breaker would give TN 6 wins vs SEC East opponents while UGA has 4. If TN splits we need LSU and Bama to beat UGA...something that probably won't happen.

Most likely scenario has us playing Ole Miss at Noon next Thursday. If we were to win that game we would go onto face Florida at Noon on Friday.

Winner of that would go onto face more than likely the winner of the Vandy vs Arkansas/Miss State (One would assume Vandy pulls it out) and a win vs the team we swept puts us in the SEC Championship game vs KY more than likely.

IMO, all winnable games seeing as how we played all of those teams. That Florida team can be beat in Atlanta by the Vols.

Yeah, I hope we get at least the 3. We have an outside shot at the 2. If we win both games, UGA loses at Bama, and UF wins at Vandy, we get the 2. The only thing I absolutely want to avoid is getting the 4 with UK as the 2. If we have to play a Thursday game, then beat Alabama with everything on the line for the Tide, and then beat UK, with UK only playing its second game, then we will have a roughly 0% chance of reaching the SECT Final.

uhhh no..we can get anywhere from 2-5

"Pretty much" being the key words there. :ermm:

I would much rather have the 5 seed over the 4 as well. Yes we can get the two seed, but we can also make the final four this year.

You'd rather play Florida on Friday than Bama?

No thanks.

If this happens then we have a 4 way tie for the 2 seed (assuming UGA beats LSU). Here is the criteria (I think) we would go to...

Three-Team Tie (or more): When three of more teams are tied for a division finish, the following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken. If two teams remain tied after a tiebreaker provision, the two-team tiebreaker formula will be used.
A) Total won-lost record of games played among the tied teams (Example: Team A is 3-1, Team B is 2-2 and Team C is 1-3 — Team A would be seeded highest, Team B second-highest and Team C lowest of the three).
B) Division won-lost record of the tied teams (10 games).
C) Won-lost record of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed in their division (and proceeding through the No. 6 seed, if necessary).
D) Non-division won-lost record.

That would put us with a 4-2 record and a 2 seed.
KY would have 3-3
UGA would have 2-4
And Vandy 3-3

All that being said, yea it's possible but I wouldn't bet on this happening. I still say 5.

Wait...If we get the 3 seed we play LSU, then Ark/MSU then Florida if we win that. To many what ifs, maybe we should just let the chips fall.

I got lost in the discussion somewhere between 2 and 5 seed.

Practically, the seeding matters very little once you get past the first two spots with byes.

This season, I think it matters less than very little.

The difference once you get past the 2, is that a 3 gives you a potential 2nd round game against a team that needs to win the SECT to make the field. But, the 4-seed is looking at a 2nd-round game with Alabama. If Bama beats UGA this weekend, a win next Friday over an NCAA-bound team from the East would at the very least get Bama back into the at-large discussion. I'd rather draw a weaker opponent than be Bama's play-in game.

Of course, the other side of that is the 4-seed gets the opportunity to hand Bama an NIT ticket.

TN can beat anyone in the SEC tournament no matter the seed with our depth but it just depends on what team shows up to play. That being said I definitely don't want the 5th seed.
