Heard him on the radio...says he's a contact hitter, center fielder...likes to steal, great quickness.

Appreciate the info. You seem to be the person in the know.

Definitely beats the first answer I got. I can only assume it was due to ignorance.

Meh, he's alright. He was a 2013 preseason underclassman honorable mention by perfect game. We have actually been recruiting outfielders pretty well lately and he is just not on the level of Thomas or Leftridge who are also in the 2014 and the outfielders we brought in the past couple of years. Granted, I'm certainly not going to complain about a solid player that we don't have to use a scholarship on.

McDowell is a safety in football and this is a position that requires a lot of film work, reps in practice, and time on the field with other DBs (read Spring Practice). Playing outfield and being an effective in the SEC requires a lot of reps in the field, time in the batting cage, and at bats vs live pitching.

I will be surprised if McDowell ever suits up one time in Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Any clue what type of numbers he's put up in high school?

I haven't been able to find too much regarding baseball. All I can say at this point is that Locust Grove has been in and out of Baseball Americas top 25 teams nationally going back to 2012. This is also the same school VJax came from, so they would have been team mates and I'm sure CDS would have been aware of him too.
