While digesting the events of the day, and trying to guess what our unsigned commitments are going to do, thought I would check out our sister SEC schools with coaching unrest in the rankings.... used rivals out of ease and familiarity...... all include signed and unsigned commitments.

Vandy is ranked 22, Not too shabby for them.
Auburn is ranke 52 Like 13 total commits
South Carolina NOT IN TOP 100 or I cannot find them anyway...

We showed 15 signed and 7 still outstanding commits... which is a high number.... but our net position after losing 2 was one spot to 14.

OH WELL

Surprised about Vandy. A lot can happen between now and February

Considering all the drama, I'm pretty happy w/ the signing day yesterday. To me, you don't get these guys signed unless Fulmer has given Pruitt some assurances (to dismay)...but I don't think there's any way this many guys sign LOI w/o some assurances from Pruitt. He'll be here next year I think, but it's rubber meet the road time, for sure. He won't last the season if we come out in the ditch to start the season.

That is exactly where I think we are at this moment. The only thing that will change that is if we lay a big egg Saturday. CPF could not risk putting it out there and the team lay down. Sadly it will have to come after early signing ends... If he survives the game, gets the endorsement I am hoping for a miracle finish that includes the expected Rucker and Washington, with Brooks, Lewis and Malone joining the class.... maybe a couple more, but leaving room for some transfers to fill worst misses. If the team does not excel next year, we move on with hopefully a better menu to choose from, but for sure more money in the bank.

It’s almost as if a lot of commits sign with schools for more than just a coach. Craziness!

Yes. I also don't agree with the premise that we should keep a failed coach just to keep a few recruits as some are inferring. It goes both ways. If we fire Pruitt, we would likely have a few recruits that bail out. However, if you make the right hire, you bring in a few recruits that weren't considering us under a Pruitt regime.

No i was confused about where he saw other teams ranked. 247 vs Rivals. He was right about UT, 14-15th range. UT was 20/21 in the class between butch and Pruitt
Look at the class it self. We saved Alontae, pulled JPP (bust), kept Greg Emerson coming off a knee injury, and got Bryce Thompson. Ranking wasn't awful but it was JUCO heavy and 8th in the SEC. Carvin and Banks were two good gets.

It wasn't a pitiful class and Pruitt salvaged some. It clearly wasn't a great class though.

Gus bus given the axe was a surprise. SEC is tuff! Just tuff! Toughest conference bar none, you never know in this league, was looking at Sabans record at Michigan St. Was there longer than I thought! His record
1st yr. 6 - 5 - 1
2nd. 6 - 6
3rd. 7 - 5
4th. 6 - 6
5th. 9 - 2
Who knew🤣🤣 fans were prolly saying stuff like, "get rid of the bum! Unless you like mediocrity!!🤣🤣
🤔 sound familiar??
2020 sucked!! JG was the worst he's ever been!! At least last yr he would come off the bench and win. That's a killer when your "5th YEAR SENIOR, is throwing more pic 6's than TD's

This year is weird recruiting wise. This year really screws a coaching change before ESD. Games were pushed back basically 2 weeks and no visits. That’s tough anyways

And this year 20 class is still true freshman and we have 21 class to add to it.

What they doing about 85 player limit?

We have 18 NLIs in assuming Rucker is already in. If we made a new hire in the next 2 weeks, that coach would have about a month to find 7 or 8 commits/transfers to add to the current class. That’s nothing compared to having 2 weeks to put an entire class together. Last staff practically did half the work for the new guy. It would not be very difficult.. especially if we make a good hire and even more especially now that the transfer portal is a bigger deal than ever.

Let’s just say we hire Gus. He recruited over half of the recruits we have in this class so he’s probably already very familiar with them. Of the ones we haven’t signed, he already has a standing relationship with Dylan Brooks and Roc Taylor. He could convince them to stay. Both Auburn commits that didn’t sign are defensive backs, 1 of those being a hybrid LB/S guy. He could convince those guys to follow him here. Then we have 3-4 spots in the transfer portal we could use to fill certain needs whether it be corner, linebacker, and obviously another QB which he’d have no problem landing a good one

Let’s say it’s Freeze. Maybe he doesn’t hold onto the 4 remaining commits. I’m sure he would have no issue finding guys in the portal. There’s also higher ranked guys that he offered at Liberty and guys that probably would’ve wanted to play for him if he was at a better school. one of those kids is Tywone Malone. He had already recruited him pretty hard at LU but at the end of the day Liberty isn’t the same school as the other choices he had. He could continue that standing relationship here and maybe pull him. Another one in that boat is 4 star JUCO CB Jadarrius Perkins.
