It's clear (as it was in 2009) that Brown will be a successful NFL back for a long time. Probably sign a 10+ million contract for 3-4 years.

He could have won Dooley 3-4 more games in 2010 and 2011, and maybe a game or 2 this year.

All I remember is Dooley saying in early 2010 that he wasn't interested in re-recruiting players (meaning only Brown) already on the squad.

Watching 30 on 30's Marcus Dupree story, Barry Switzer said his handling of Marcus was the biggest mistake of his coaching career. Of course, he'd already won 3 NCs and 5 Big 8 Championships in 10 years by then.

So, what was Dooley thinking? Or didn't he have a chance?

Dooley has no one to blame for anything but hisself. I mean come on you do not want former Vols comming in unless they call. The things i have read about high school coaches saying about Dooley. I see why now we can not get in on the good players in Tennessee with him as our coach. Coach Jones has some work to do after what Dooley messed up. Dooley tries to act like Saban but with out the wins.

No...Bryce was out of control...the ego and handler and the whole mess was not worth the trouble IMO. Plus, the guy pouted when it became clear that Montario Hardesty was the better back....

Dooley would've found a way to lose with him too.....it was simply the Dooley way.

Brown better start holding on the the ball or the NFL will stand for Not For Long for him

Dooley might be a great husband, son and father and that's important to but he isn't a coach. Would never gotten the job except for his last name. Why is it classless to state the obvious. Criticism comes with big bucks and Dooley got the money.

Doesn't matter. The point is, Dooley didn't even try.

I'm with you on this. When he first said it I thought it was reasonable, but hearing Butch say one of his first responsibilities was to keep players on the team, I see how it was a mistake now.

Bryce wanted to stay bc he liked it here and his gf was here. His daddy wouldn't let it happen though.

And it sure does seem like Dooley was too proud to try and convince the dad his son would be in good hands if he stayed at TN.

Thanks for confirming my memory on this point. Ultimately, Bryce didn't choose to exercise his God-given free will and tell his father and handler, "No, I'm staying here."

So untrue. Brown was nothing special here and was certainly nothing special at k-state. He was 3rd string iirc. Brown wasn't even good enough to get most of the snaps while he was here.

I wouldn't bank on him being the next Arian foster just yet, especially if he doesn't fix his ball security.

Brown had similar YPC as Hardesty as a freshman. I remember all of the Poole crap and the VN fan implications of Bryce being afraid of competition. Bryce would have been a star here and I would like to know how the whole Dooley transition went down regarding Brown.

What difference would it have made having B Brown on the team? I mean, you go 5-7 with two first round draft picks at WR, a 4-5th round at TE, a 6-7 round at WR (Zac Rog) and probably 2-3rd round at QB. You also have a 3-4th round at tackle. If you can't win with that level of talent, you can't win.

Plus, there is no telling how many on defense will play in the NFL when its all said and done.

He may have been in Saban's "system", but apparently the graduate assistants gleaned just as much from Saban as Dooley did.

Seems like a huge difference between having all your talent in the passing game, versus adding a legitimate running threat to go with it. But, it's all moot point now.

I have read that Bryce and his family wanted his brother to transfer here. His brother was a very good linebacker and that was a position of need for us.

Dooley pretty much screwed the pooch no matter how you look at it. Massaging egos is just part of being a coach. If you aren't any good at that then you aren't going to be successful. It is not just players, but high school coaches have egos too.
