Deepest? I seriously doubt it. The 10-11 Vols have potential, but loosing Weezy is really going to hurt us.

I really think this is going to be a special group. With Williams coming along like he did at the end of the season and Kenny Hall having an additional 20-25 lbs next season we should be alright down low. Scotty has to step up but I think we will have plenty of leadership from Melvin and Williams as well. Im pretty pumped about our incoming class.

I think the deepest will be 11-12 Vols.

The deepest team was the 07-08 team but this team could be as deep as that team was.

You'll realize when you see that Pearl stops playing meaningful minutes.

This will be the best thing for the team. When you have a guy that shoots 20% from the foul line, in the 20's% on field goal percentage, is a mismatch on defense, and can't even lead a basic 2 on 1 break, it is time for him to stop seeing significant minutes.

That's what I was thinking,it kinda depends on what kind of year Tobias has next year.

Yes but, there is a chance for a lockout in the NBA so if there is we could be looking at him returning (which would likely happen anyways) and Hopson put them with Ware,Jones,Hall,McRae,Golden and hopefully another big man and we will be making a big run that year.

It seems that we have some quality players in 2010 but I don't look for us to be as good as this year until mid season.

I'm not so sure about the leadership.

Stevie's gonna play next year, whether we like it or not. Just listen to Bruce talk about him. It's nepotism, but there's nothing we can do about it.

I bet you think Michael Bradley only plays because of nepotism too.

If Kenny Hall and Renaldo Woolridge both become tougher defenders than Pearl, Pearl won't play anymore. Come January, if two of Hall, Swipa, and Maymon become tougher defenders, Pearl won't play anymore. Failing that, Pearl will keep playing, and he will deserve it. He can't shoot worth a lick, but he's a tough defender and smart player who makes pretty good passes (when he's not leading a fast break).

I agree...Pearl also does not sound like a guy showing nepotism when he says he was a liability offensively this year. He has been very tough on his son.

Listen, whatever positives he adds to the team at this point, he never would have seen the floor at any other major college basketball program. He can't hit free throws, he can't rebound, he has no offensive game to speak of, he cannot contribute to any kind of offense other than to pass it around at the top of the key, he can't jump or rebound unless it comes right to him, he does not box out, and he just played significant minutes on an elite eight team.

Just like anyone who gets on the floor and is in shape, he's going to contribute in some areas. However, if he's not an option Bruce finds a way to motivate one of the actual athletes to play better, either Woolridge or Hall, and we would have been a better team at the end of the season. With Stevie available he didn't feel the need to do that, and that's unfortunate.

Really? If Steven is not an option, Pearl will suddenly become a better motivator? Or he'll suddenly try to motivate little-used players like Woolridge (who started for a large part of the season when Pearl wasn't motivating him). Woolridge started and played well for a few games. I don't know what happened then, but Pearl became a better option. If guys like Pearl don't play at other Elite Eight schools, it's because their other bench options are better than Hall and Woolridge. But ours weren't, so there's no use crying nepotism. And the idea that Pearl wasn't trying his hardest to get the most out of his guys just seems silly.
