Neither C.J. Leak nor Rick Clausen did much this spring to quell the notion that one of the Vols’ highly-touted true freshman can step up and win the job this summer.  Leak will enter two-a-days as the starter, but his hold on the position is a tenuous one.  Once they arrive on campus, all eyes will be fixated on Eric Ainge and Brent Schaeffer, the talented rookies UT fans are pinning their hopes upon.
Prediction: Schaeffer

The thought of a true freshman QB leading the team against UF, Auburn, and UGA is really scary thought. I hope that Leak or Clausen can play without hurting the team, and can get the ball to the playmakers on offense until one of the freshman is ready. I recall Peyton's freshman season, and even Peyton had difficulties has a freshman until very late in the season. It is too bad our schedule is so top heavy with all of the tough SEC games early.

I have griped about that for years, Gunner. If I made the schedule, UGA, UF, and Bama would be the last games of the season.

Let's start a new tradition in the state of Tennessee and make the Vandy game the opener every year. :good:

I have no problem whatsoever with a Freshman at QB. Listen, I think starting Leak is going to be a diaster and Clausen a joke. We need to build someone into a mold for the future and if this kid can do it, so be it.

If you want my dead honest opinion, we won't win the East next year. Not with UGA the way they are right now with seniors galore, so lets build off next year.
