Nope. Strong won't have BP and Linehan running his offense. That is the only reason he won games in the first place. (Smith)

Maybe he is a better recruiter than the current Big East ranking show?

Rutgers -30th
Pitt-37
Cincy-54
Ucon-55
Temple-69
So Fl-70
Louisville-74
Syracuse-81

you know I was thinking about his recruiting reputation in Florida. Don't MOST coordinators in Florida recruit well. Perhaps it has as much to do with geography as anything personal. It would take a real stiff to not be able to come up with faster defensive players in the state of Florida than what many of the SEC usually get.

Recruiting rankings don't amount to much at this point in the year. I recall Fulmer routinely was behind other SEC teams, and with a strong finish, we'd have a Top 5-10 class. You also have to look at our current class. Horrible in comparison the rest of the SEC. Even before we played Florida, where we had all kinds of Mojo. Why then? Not because Dooley doesn't know how to recruit, but most blue chip prospects have been taking a "wait and see" approach.

Derrick Green (5* RB who has us in his top 3) said this specifically. There were/are a number of WR recruits leaning toward us, but unwilling to commit because they knew the Coaching situation was fluid. Same thing with Strong/Louisville. Halfway into the season, they are undefeated and coaching rumors are already swirling, saying he's a top target. Of course Louisville prospects are going to sit tight and see how it all shakes out.

I'd like to hope Dooley was our John L Smith, and we have moved past mediocrity.

Just looking over his Bio and Urban Meyer retained him at florida and fired every other assistant when he took over. Strong is an awesome defensive mind.

I agree but look at his previous years...unless recruits thought he'd be leaving the last 3 years he's got no excuse. His resume is very similar to that of Dooleys, difference being in Dooleys last year at La Tech they went 4-8, losing several close games. Strong's last year at Louisville 10-2, winning several close games (One being a 4 point win over WINLESS usm)...I'm sorry guys, but if you expect Strong to come in and have success against Bama, USC, Florida, Georgia, Vandy even in his first 3 years you're crazy. And what has been the ONLY downfall of Dooley? HE CAN'T COMPETE WITH TOP 25/SEC TEAMS! Go show me who Strong has EVER beaten...I'm waiting...

edit: to clarify, I think Dooley was a bad coach, I'm just saying the only reason he was fired was his top 25/SEC record.
