Is anyone paying attention to what's going on in Mass.?

Back when Kerry ran for President and Romney was Govenor, the Dems pushed for and successfully got the law changed to allow for a special election. They did so because had Kerry won, Romney would have been able to choose the successor and of course choose a Republican.

Now 5 years later and Kennedy dies, Mass. Dems are rushing to change it back, so that now their Democratic Governor can hand pick the successor instead of having a special election. Methinks even in that heavily Democratic state, given that the DNC isn't very popular anymore, they might lose the spot.

Nice to see they just change crap when it fits them best.

They are certainly just changing the laws to fit what they want. It is pretty annoying, but if the state doesn't want that, then they need to elect a different house/senate. I will say that the vote to go back to gubernatorial appointments was not a blowout, at least.

On a somewhat related note, this state loves incumbents like nothing I have ever seen before, it is crazy.

I also don't see a republican winning the senate seat, unless Romney were to run. At the moment I can't think of anyone who would bring enough of a challenge besides him, and because of the implications it might have on future presidential races, I don't think that they would elect him.

blatant doesn't matter. Having lived there, I can assure you that they can be as blatant and hypocritical about this as they please. No one is going to oust those doing it.

What's sad is that the electorate will allow them to get away with the dirty tactics, or will they?

I daresay that John and Samuel Adams would be sorely disappointed and saddened if they could see their native state now.
