Authors of the paper, published in Nature, say the research does not mean that producing livestock to eat is good for the environment in all countries. However in certain circumstances, it can be better for global warming to let animals graze on grassland.
The research will reignite the argument over whether to eat red meat after other studies suggested that grass fed cattle in the UK and US can also be good for the environment as long as the animals are free range.

The media is so bad these days, it's shameful.

The main issues with cattle are methane and the infrastructure needed to raise them (fertilizing and managing fields of grain to feed them). It's always been thought that free range livestock is better for the environment. That's why when you go to the organic section at your grocery store, they have free range things.

While the wording sites many good reasons to "go green," such as reducing carbon emissions and potentially reduced medical costs, we wish they'd picked another day besides Monday, which is already bad enough, isn't it?
