hope allvoll can help out if no one else can....at his present pace, will CPF have a chance to have the all time wins record in comparable time as JoePa?

Fulmer would have to coach into his 80's to get there and continue to win 9 games a year.

Joe Pa has 343 wins (74.6%). Bobby Bowden has amassed 320 wins (76.7%) [excluding 4 years at Samford]. Bear Bryant had 323 wins (78%)

Taking into consideration that the NCAA is looking at allowing a 12th game every year, that Fulmer averages an SEC Championship game every 3 years (4 appearances in 12 full seasons), and that Fulmer has taken his team to a bowl game every season....... and his 80% winning percentage..... Fulmer would exceed 323 wins during the 2023 season and 343 wins during the 2025 season. Fulmer is currently 54 years old. He would be 73 by the 2023 season and 75 by the 2025 season. If he retires at age 65, he'll likely have approximately 240 wins.

Does anyone think that Fulmer will still be coaching in 2023?

In case anyone is interested - I checked UT vs UA (bama) since the Bear was there. Why? Cause I live here and have to hear about tradition all the time.

Here's the breakdown

UT - 204/61/6 (75%) Avg. wins/season = 9.3; losses = 2.9, 5 SEC titles and one NC

UA - 179/87/2 (67%) Avg. wins/season = 8.2; losses = 3.8, 3 SEC titles and one NC

Head to head - UT 12 wins; UA 9 wins (one tie)

Losing seasons - UT = 1; UA = 4

By the way, 3 other SEC teams have won more SEC champs than Bama (UF = 6, Aub = 4, LSU = 4) Georgia is the only other team to win one.

No doubt Bama will be good again but without the Bear the "tradition" is not so strong.

A few more bits to add:

UT has the highest winning % in the conference since 1983. UF is next at 74% followed by Auburn (70%) and Bama tied with UGA at 67.5%. LSU comes next at 59.5%

Auburn also has a winning record 12 - 10 vs UA during this time.

By all accounts UT has been the best in the SEC since the Bear retired except that UF has one more SEC champ. (UT has more wins, better win % and same # of NC's as any other team).

Finally, a few more points:

Against the other top teams in the SEC since 1983 we have a winning record against Bama (12/9/1), UGA (10/5) and LSU (5/3). We are close against Aub (6/7/2) and pitiful against UF (6/11).

These #'s may be off by one or two but overall, they show UT has been the top program in the conference. Let's hope it continues. I think after the 2007 season it will be a good time to look back. It will have been 25 years since Bear Bryant was in the league and like it or not, his program is still the measuring stick.

yea, but the Bear (may he rest in peace) is gone, General Neyland was a pretty good coach in his day but most Vol fans live in the present not the past like most bammers do. and the Gators have fallen from grace without thier beloved spurrier and LSU may stumble without Saban at the helm, we are blessed to have CPF

I totally agree. My point was that people (Bammers in particular) were living in the past. I guess you can pick any time frame for the comparison but it seemed to me that looking at post-Bear SEC makes sense. The time frame covers over 20 years, thus many generations of teams and coaches. I see your point though.
