I have been on this board since January. Since then I have been very vocal about my disdain for the Clausens. After Saturday, I have to say WOW! The offense flowed with Rick in the game. He was callm, and he seemed to put the rest of the offense at ease. I was very surprised at Ainges' performance or lack there of. How many series will Ainge play against UF? Will he step up and play better? We did not look bad but I think that we have alot to work on before 9/17.

Ainge probably won't play UF unless 1)We go up by a ton 2)Clausen can't get anything done or 3)Or back is to the wall and we need something big.

Well, if Florida's WR's can run all over us, we probably will need something big. If Florida's spread works we'll have no choice but to open up the offense.

Even though our dbs are our biggest weakness I think we match up very well with Florida's offense. I think our front four can keep Florida's run game in check which was very suspect this past weekend. We can blitz enough to keep Leak on guard.

Now many people are worried about our dbs vs. their wrs and they should, but if Allen can keep Jackson under wraps (whoaccounted for all their passing TDs) then we can hopefully keep the rest of them in check.

They key IMO is forcing them to throw against seven guys and keeping Chad Jackson from being a factor. I think Allen is huge in this game.

Allen can shut down one side of the field by himself  I think if we wanna go man we would still be able to match up pretty well, I think that Morley is talented enough to shut some down as well...I think our secondary will handle UF's WRs pretty well.

I thought the secondary looked much improved on Saturday granted it was UAB and not FLA, and if we put enough pressure on Leak I think our D can slow the passing attack down enough to get a comfortable win.

From just the looks saturday,They cant run between tackles on us.
I think containing everything going to the outside will be a big factor in slowing UFs offense down, Along with being in Leaks face all night. IMO

Leak can't connect with those WR's if he's on his back, Jesse and the rest of the front line will have a much better game , which will ease the pressure down field

I dont know if i am ready to automatically trash Ainge like everyone else is just yet....i just dont think 5 and 10 yard bubble screens from Clausen will get it done in the next three weeks..but, i agree Clausen played better, no doubt, but, i would argue if Fulmer would decide on Ainge, leave him in, not having to worry about someone all the dang time, he would be just fine... Now, for Rick, i commend him on his performance, but this two quarterback system is simply not going to work this year...the reason it did last year is simply because it was two different offenses all together when one QB came in for another. Unless this decision is finally decided, with whomever the QB will be, it will, without a doubt, a long year here in Rocky Top

I like the spread a lot. But i'm not sure it works against Florida. For one, Meyer probably understands and knows how to defend it better then our coaches probably do.

Second, their defense practices against it all the time. And last, Florida is one of the few teams who have as good of athletes as we do on both sides of the ball. They probably have 4 or 5 DB who are as athletic as are 4 or 5 best wide receivers.

The thing that most scares me about Florida is though, we havent played very well when we have played the option in the past. The only times I can remember playing a good option team was against KSU and Nebraska, games I'd rather forget. My $.02.

I also agree with the pollster about not ready to drop ainge yet. Clausen has less mobility and Ainge can throw the deep ball. I have a feeling whoever is the QB is going to get a lot of pressure.

Ainge played a big part in us getting the 10 points to start off the game. He never looked the same after he went out. Regardless of who starts the UF game of the rest of the season, we should ALL support Ainge and Clausen both.

Great players have bad games all of the time. It's not uncommon. He has only played like what, 7 or 8 college games? We talk about the players getting caught up in the hype, I think we as fans do too. Maybe we are asking just a bit too much from our sophmore QB right now. We have all seen what Ainge can do. There is no reason to go around acting like he can't do anything now and implying that he's useless.

He made some mistakes, he's human and he's a VOL so lets get behind him, Rick and the rest of the team and kick some butt.
