"We're going to focus on the people between the lines. We're not worried about the 100,000 people in the stands. We have practiced everyday with crowd noise, so loud that we can't even hear each other talk. I don't think it's possible we could have it any louder than we've had it on the field."

This is what the Cal coach said on his website. I hope he is in for a rude awakening from the time the T is split until the Tennessee Waltz is played. I'll be doin my part.

I cant wait baby, 107000+ strong, hope all you vol fans get on your feet and yell!!!

IT's FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Not a big deal, but it's Jeff Tedford.

You know, based on all the media hype, you're the only person in the world that didn't know it was Jeff.

LOL

You're right about it being a rude awakening.

Still hasn't practiced with the heat, noise and pressure. Much different when you combine them all in a season opener.

I think Cal has more to prove than Tennessee, and 107,000 fans crazed by last year will be someting to contend with.

Also this is the slowest week of my life.

I knew it was Jeff, I keep getting it confused and calling him John. Youre right about the hype. Espn loves him.

HA! They can make all the noise at practice they want. You CANNOT simulate the raw energy of Neyland stadium when it's really rockin'!!!

it's like pissin' in the wind.

If they have practiced with the noice then it is a big concern of there's and not having gone through this before they cannot know how much of a BIG CONCERN it really is and WILL BE.

SWIL made an amazing point. Yes, part of a visiting's teams problem will be noise, and you can simulate that.

However, you cannot simulate the ENERGY. You cannot simulate the PRESSURE. When Cal is practicing in Berkeley, the noise they face is from a speaker, not from 104,000 (3,000 Cal fans or so) insane fans who wouldn't mind you dieing.

In Berkeley, they cannot simulate Nate Longshore being drilled by Tuck McBride while releasing the ball, with the pass just falling short of an INT. They cannot simulate that very next snap, when FEAR is in Nate Longshore's mind.

The noise will be intimidating, but the real pressure will come from the visual drama created by 107,000 orange clad and crazed hill people shouting down the slopes of the rock looking for the Calboys that slapped they're grandma and dissed they're sister.

The crowd, like the team, needs to come out fired up and ready to play!! How great would it be to deafen them on the opening kick off and then have them start with a delay of game penalty or have to burn a time out because of all the noise. Make the bears start wondering what they got themselves into!!!

Like that article. Nothing like making your first start against 108,000 fans hoping you fail.

I just have one thing to say. If you're going to throw a bottle and it's NOT empty, please give it to me. I'll throw it.

Last time I checked, old Tedford won't be taking the snap from under center. I don't care how loud you turn up a stereo during a practice, it is not the same for a 19-20 year old in a setting such as Neyland.

Get ready Tedford, you don't know what noise is just yet . . .
