My neighbor cracks me up with Eye Talian. I told him a recipe for eggs that I like and told him I call them Italian eggs, just so I could hear him say it. He says aiggs. Eyetalian aiggs. Lulz.

My highly unscientific research (reading lots of cop mysteries set all over the world) says that they are still very regional. Often their own dialect is their first language (Veneziane, for instance) and Italian second, with a healthy contempt for those not born and raised in the region.

The ancient city-state system on the Italian peninsula has never really changed, one reason for the political weakness of Italy.

My cousin was working for Pratt Whitney and they sent him to Spain. He met and came here to marry a Spanish lady. She was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. He apparently couldn’t keep up with her and they got divorced.
