Bestbuy doesn't have it in store. I need it now.

This is for an office. The Router is going in an office down the hall. It has a netgear switch. Another office further down the hall needs internet. This Router is all I need, right? Is that one you recommend overkill?

Are the walls concrete/cement block?

Asking because our walls are plaster (and horsehair) over wire lath, and wifi just lies there whimpering after a few right angles.

Some are.

I thought I remember tfg talking to someone recently about routers and thought maybe he might have a suggestion. Should have known better.

Souce won't answer questions for him but will for others. Lol.

I’m shopping for a wifi extender (I have a router already.) I just went in circles with Darth Bezos (Amazon), so I’m glaring at a Best Buy site at the moment.

Yes, it's probably overkill.

This one will probably work fine and it's available at your best buy.

tl;dr
Because our house was framed with 2 x 6s, I had to get a wifi extender to reach the bedroom (farthest away from the router) and the sunroom (brick wall). The one we got is about five years old or so. Ours was in the 75 dollar price range, but it doesn't need to go 120 feet. I'd like to have one because our garage is detached, and I go to 5g a lot of the time when I'm out there.

I just ordered an extender (not a router, like @Behr is searching for) from BB, pick up in an hour.

If it doesn’t do the job, I’ll look into one like yours. 1686239589126.gif

I got ours at BB. It's one of the ones you simply plug in to the electrical outlet.

I saw that one -- it has good specs too, but I wasn't sure how much you wanted to spend. Also, I've never used an ASUS router. I've only used TP-Link & Netgear, but the ASUS looks very solid.
I thought tfg recommended ASUS to somebody.

What's the best way to check signal strength in a problem area after upgrading a router or adding an extender?

Just look at the bars on the phone, or do an upload/download speed check as a before and after?
