A 911 call made from Urban Meyer's home at about 4:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 6, after Florida lost in the SEC championship game, reveals that the Gators' coach was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after complaining of chest pains and a tingling sensation on his side.

The Dec. 6 call, obtained Wednesday by ESPN, contradicts earlier comments from Meyer and the university that the coach checked himself into a Gainesville hospital that morning for dehydration, only later to admit that he also had chest pains.

Meyer's wife, Shelley, who placed the 911 call, said her husband awoke briefly that morning and tried to get out of bed, but fell to the floor. On the call, Shelley Meyer said he was breathing and had a pulse but would not wake up. She said her husband had been taking the sleeping pill Ambien, which she said often puts him into a deep sleep.

ESPN

This makes him sound like the "fibber" everyone knows he is.

A lot of people already knew this and it isn't a big deal...he was downplaying it. If it were the other way around--if he claimed to have chest pains when he was really only dehydrated--THAT would hurt his reputation.

The issue is tht he said he checked himself into the hospital, when in fact his wife called 911, and he was rushed to the hospital. If he went by ambulance that's what the school and himself should have stated. Not for dehydration, then later say it was chest pains.

well that explains his half-hearted coaching attempt that night...

I'm not trying to be a smart ___ but I, as well as many others, could see the loss for Florida to Bama from the second or third week of in-conference play. Florida offense and defense just did not look as good this year. Don't get me wrong, they were still a good team but Bama looked much more balance and tougher on both sides of the ball.

UF didn't show up that night, a rare night where their defense was nowhere to be found no doubt. UF's offense however was missing in action for quite a few games this year. They just didn't look the same and fairly early in the season I could see the better team was Bama.

I thought they were pretty much the same..both great defenses and both decent offenses...difference was what you mentioned...UF D just didnt show up..something that hasnt happened in a while.

Bama looked like the better team all year. Florida was never explosive on offense outside of Tebow and Bama just played more physical on a consistent basis. Like Kiffin said, they had better coaches.

UF may end up with a good recruiting class but I think we are seeing the downfall of Meyer. That bullcrap Tebow up the middle aint happening anymore and UF will have to do something new on offense. Meyer is better off not coaching at this point.

When I had chest pains and a tingling down the side in the middle of the night, I woke my wife up and made her drive me to the hospital her damn self. Guy's a sissy for wanting an ambulance.

It's pretty typical for public figures to do everything they can to not upset or freak out their supporters when something happens to adversely affect their health. It's not an integrity issue..it's PR.

Florida wins...and we aren't having this conversation. It really goes back to what Lane seems to have known all along. Meyer doesn't handle criticism or losing well at all. Ironically, after the draft and this little incident it seems that there may be more of the previous and the latter on the horizon for Urbie. He is nothing more than a spoiled child...a charge that sounds familiar to UT fans these days.
