I rarely post, but read every day. I am Vol all the way through. I am twice the basketball fan than I am football fan, and I am huge football fan. Cuonzo has impressed me in several ways since he has been here.
1. He is a great representative of the University. He is honest, straightforward, and I have a lot of respect for him.
2. He is a nice recruiter, and an even better talent evaluater. Anybody that can get Stokes and Hubbs is doin g something right. His evaluations of Richardson, Moore, Thompson, Davis, etc seem spot on. Taking the BP leftovers and recruiting he has built a very talented roster
3. His players seem to respect him and play hard.
However, at this point in his career, the big question is. When have you seen him "outcoach" the other team? He has won some big games against good teams. He has lost some terrible games to terrible teams. The problem is that when you look at the other teams bench and you see a guy that can gameplan and adjust (Marshall, Floyd, etc.) Tennessee is in trouble regardless of talent. It is possible he has potential to be a good game coach, but Hamilton once again hired a guy 5-10 years before he was ready for primetime. Its a shame too, because I think Cuonzo has a ton of strengths, but I fear that the rest of this season will be just like the last 2. A few good wins, a few bad losses, and an NIT bid. I hope I am wrong.
