Will be interesting to see which one is better over the years...I don't think either fanbase was too thrilled with the hires at the time...I know the GT fanbase has warmed up to Brian Gregory a lot though...was wondering how the UT fans feel about Martin now?

Recruiting will have a huge impact on the both coaches careers..how's UT doing in that area so far?

I'm excited about Cuonzo's game-coaching ability, but his recruiting is a concern. Based on history, I'd guess the exact opposite with Gregory.

The obvious advantage Gregory has is the fact he is based right in the heart of one of our chief recruiting areas. Atlanta plays some terrific basketball.

I go to the University of Dayton right now and we are thrilled BG left. He could recruit but he couldn't coach at all. He ruined Chris Wrights NBA potential and no one ever got any better after their sophomore year. Don't worry about who he brings to GT.

I feel that this year will be huge going forward. I'm not saying that we will win a lot (reality suck a big one), but if we are able to keep games close maybe Martin will be able to attract big names by showing that UT can still compete with the best in the nation. Goodness knows we have a top team schedule.

You're right. GA is always loaded.

Can't be a worse X and O guy than the one we had :)

No offense, but I would have been extremely disappointed if we had hired Gregory. Martin wasn't a homerun hire at the time, but I'd much rather have him than your coach.

Actually BG was worse. His attack motion offense looked like the play Kentucky and Ohio St. uses to hold the ball at the end of games.

Agreed. Any coach that could win at Missouri St. deserves to get a good job.

Trust me it's not worse. GT had no offense plan and couldn't inbound a ball.

Gregory fits GT well at this time because he's the total opposite of Hewitt...awful with media, bad personality and was ruining ties in recruiting.

I wish you guys nothing but luck, but I honestly thought you could have done much better. You all have a very attractive basketball job.

I agree GT could have done a lot better..but GT had NO money to hire anybody. I think there paying Hewitt 7 million and are finally about to finish paying Chan Gailey off...amazing what Paul Hewitt managed to do.

Anything is better than Paul Hewitt. PERIOD!!!! I cannot believe we wasted talents like Javaris Crittenton, Thaddeus Young, and Derrick Favors while they were here.

Unbelievable. Still gets me heated thinking about it.

I can't believe Hewitt actually managed to land a decent job.

Sadly Brian Gregory will only bring you more of the same. Only BG is less talented.

I think it's a stretch to say that GT Basketball recruits itself or even that it's necessarily easier to recruit to GT than to UT. Other than being located in Atlanta, which I'm sure helps a lot, I don't see what GT Basketball has to offer that UT doesn't, unless the recruit would rather play in the ACC.

The ACC is the superior basketball league, but it's not like Tennessee plays in the SoCon. And, I'm pretty sure Tennessee has superior facilities and a larger following.

I don't mean to be rude to the GT fan, but if the program recruits itself, then it seems like the program would have been more of a consistent national player over the past few decades.

I'm not saying GT's never been good; they were in the title game within the past decade; I think 2004. But, it's not like GT's been on the level of the "blue blood" programs to the point that any coach with a telephone can out-recruit Tennessee just by calling a kid up and saying, 'Come Play for the Yellow Jackets.'

Dillard is a stud! Chris Johnson is a baller too. I love watching the Flyers. UD baby! They are my adopted A-10 team as my family mostly hails from Dayton
