Maybe I just don't understand how this stuff works but shouldn't our current coaches be looking for jobs to spare us their buyouts? They should know by now that Jones will bring in his guys given his history but even before we landed Jones I thought they had in their contract that they needed to find jobs. Are they waiting it out or are they just that "bad"?

Their doing what they get paid to do until told otherwise.

I know that Missouri is interested in Chaney. He has been favorably discussed quite a bit here locally.

If Chaney doesn't get hired on to this staff. He should have no problem finding a HC job at smaller college somewhere.

Most of the time the new coach will keep at least one or two off the previous staff to have someone that is familiar with the players and some of the traditions.

Chaney certainly fits the bill and I'd be happy to retain him, Pittman, and Graham.

I'd be shocked if Chaney gets hired to this staff. Jones is more of a Spread guy with a history that dates back to Rich Rodriguez's early staffs. Its different offensive philosophy than what Chaney uses. Yes, Chaney spreads it out to throw down field, but he's not a guy with a history of using a mobile QB with Read Options to stretch the field wide.

Yes, the way this typically works...Butch will interview all nine of them. May keep one or two. The others will be terminated. It is a cold, hard business. But they make huge amounts of money. But an assistant college football coach will oftentimes move 8-10 times over a career. Just like being in the military. You get used to moving.

That is why Coach Ed Oregeron was living in an apartment.

They will stay until they're fired, unless they get a good offer or don't have to pay UT a buyout if they leave. If they terminate the contract then they don't get any buyout money from UT.

Unless Bajakian stays at UC, Chaney is gone.

Butch = Chezik

Bajakian = Malzahn

BJ and Bajakian have been teamed up for awhile.
