Alot of people feel that most of our current commits are "under the radar" and in the end will have much higher ratings than they do now....

With that in mind here's how I see their Rivals ratings playing out...

Posey - 5.8 four star...I think another standout year against excellent competition gives him the 0.1 he needs for the 4th star

Smith - 5.8 four star...same as Posey except he'll get a 0.2 bump of course

Worley - 5.8 four star...If he puts up similar numbers to his first two seasons then I think we'll see his rating rise significantly, especially if he's invited to and performs well at an all star game

Randolph - 5.7 three star...I think he'll get a bump because he plays against good competition but I think his reported "average at best" cover skills will keep him from being considered a 4 star recruit

Power - 5.6 three star...Power has great measurables for his position, if he can put up some decent numbers then I could see a 5.7

Harris - 5.5 three star... I don't see Harris' rating going up. He's cut off his recruitment which means no more offers will come in and he's an EE so no All Star games for him

JMO...I'd love to hear what any of you think about these guys and their future ratings

What do you mean no All Star games for Harris? Miller and James played the UA game and both was an EE's. I'm sure there were others too. Is the rule being changed for next year?

I don't see anyone but Smith moving up. Agree that Power will be a 3* by Rivals and an embarrassment to Scout who has him as a 2*.

Worley is a 5.5 3* right now. I don't know why considering his numbers and competition. It has to be his throwing motion or arm strength I suppose? I can't see him jumping from barely a 3* to a 4*.

I love Posey and believe he will be a great OL for UT. However, much of the rating system is based on measureables... and he's not going to pass those above him on that. I could be wrong and hope I am... but I believe he remains a 3*.

No... my bad...I didn't know that about the UA game...I thought both it and the Army game were in January

IMHO the only player we have that will get a star bump currently is Posey. Worley, has a sliver of hope but he will have to be invited to an all star game and show out.

I too am pretty confused by Worley's rating...but keep in mind that Bray wasn't even rated at this point last year...he'll have to have a great year and show out at an all star game...but at this point I'm going to be my usual optimistic self and believe that he will...

As for Posey...I'm thinking if he continues to dominate the TJ Striplings of the world (I know Stripling is in college I just mean players like him) then Rivals will look ridiculous if they don't bump him 0.1 to a 4 star

I think they're at the end of Dec/beginning of Jan right before the Spring semester starts. I know this past year the Army game was on January 9th and the UA game was before it.

Oh...cool...

I'd be shocked if Harris was invited to either...but you never know

One thing I noticed on Worley's highlights is how wide open his receivers were. I know it is a highlight film. Now, he led them perfectily on medium to long throws, but that team looks like they have a very good high school receiving group. Not a knock on him, and he plays at a high level class rating in GA, so I don't know why he's as low as he is. His numbers are amazing. Our staff is high on him, so I'll go with their opininion over the * ratings any day.

There's ego involved here too thunder5.

The analysts have taken a long look at Posey and Worley. They have to swallow a lump of pride to move guys like that up.

Bray was different since he just kind of showed up at camps impressing people. Worley hasn't been a secret. He's much more of a known quantity.

Don't get me wrong... I am more impressed that both this staff and the last had him #1 on the board than I am with a Rivals/Scout ranking.

Worley plays in SC. If they haven't changed their format, they play four classes and then the largest 16 schools in the state have a separate Championship. I believe Northwestern is one of the Big 16. SC has outstanding HS football.

Worley has an outstanding offer list and is only going to go higher on the lists. The only thing that may hurt him honestly is the fact that he is already committed there will not be as big of a buzz around him. I keep hearing how good evaluators this staff is, so if thats true, expect to see alot of these guys shoot up the boards.

My predictions:
Smith 5.6 --> 5.8
Posey 5.7 --> 5.8
Randolph 5.6 --> 5.7
Power __ --> 5.7
Worley 5.5 --> 5.6
Harris 5.5 --> 5.5

Smith will be a 4star.

Posey, Randolph, and Power have a legit shot at being a 4star.

I doubt Worley and Harris move up.

You really think Power has a shot at 4*...what makes you say that?

Worley won't move up at all you think? I have a hard time not seeing him at 5.7 at least

Power has ridic measureables and already made some noise at an SEC school as a freshman.

Rivals has Worley rated very low. It's just hard for me to see them moving him up. He could definitely be a 4star on ESPN or maybe Scout.

SC has two major programs and others (like UT) routinely raid the state.

If Clemson and So Car are both at home, they'll draw about 160K fans vs UT's 100K... in a state with around half the population IIRC.

SC is surrounded by great programs. Clemson and SC are ALWAYS competing with GA, FL, FSU, TN, etc.

With some of you so obsessed with the number of stars for each recruit, maybe it would be a good idea for UT to have the numbers available to flash upon the screen at the time of every big play. Everyone could then decide whether to cheer or not based upon the number of stars.

Anyone with less than 4 stars who makes a good play should be met with silence because we know they cannot perform on a consistent basis. That would cut down on the confusion for many of us who actually believe stars are about perception, but heart, dedication, and determination brings out true ability.

I'm looking forward to seeing our Vols prove the naysayers wrong. Players who really want to be Vols, and coaches who have their heart in what they are doing will prove to be successful.

Go Vols!
