Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted one of my custom McFarlane figures, but since I finished this A.J. Johnson figure for a customer just a couple of hours before it was announced he would be returning to be a part of Team 118, I found it fitting. I think this turned out to be one of my better Vols figures, even better than the one I made and showed A.J. himself at the O&W game last year. With that one, I put his hair in a bun but with this one I let the dreads flow free. You can see the details of the hair I pieced together with clay in the last photo. You can also see that I tried to put as many details of the smokey grey uniforms in the figure as I could, including the hint of a checkerboard inside the numbers. I also made the VOLS gloves, where the word VOLS can be seen on the palm of the hands in photos two and three. Other details include Adidas socks and cleats authentic to what A.J. wears and the uniform. What does everyone think?

To see other Tennessee figures I've done, go to my website at Dusty's Custom Figures - Custom McFarlane Football Figures.

And Freak, you can move or delete this post if it breaks any board rules. I'm not trying to advertise for business, just showing off my work.

So you paint Barbie Dolls and hock them on VN for a living?

I kid, looks real good.

Dusty, your stuff always looks great.
I was actually wondering if you had done the smoky grey uniform yet.
Have you thought about how to do the pattern in the jersey?

I have, but doing the pattern would be incredibly time consuming. Plus, I'd have to charge a customer for all that time, and it is just easier for me and cheaper for them to do it the simple way. I may try it if I do one for myself to test it.

Really well done Dusty. I think I've got your next assignment:

Haha. I already have a request for a North figure and its on the waiting list. I plan on making a North figure for myself that's authentic to his appearance from the USC game.

Do you mean customize avatars? If so, yes, I've done that here before too. I've also graced Volnation with the creation of this little jewel. Haha --> :loco:

You know I am in on one when you get it figured out.

I've actually had the pleasure of owning a few of Dusty's figures, and he was kind enough to walk me through the process, and let me write about it. I think it's fascinating what he does and how he does it.

Here is the article about his process while he was making me an Eric Berry for my office.
If I Bleed Orange, I'm Bled Out: From passion to profit...

As a side note, does anyone want to help a fellow Vol create a custom digital logo?

Awesome work!! Did you do the ones in the complex where the indoor facility is located? I saw a few of those just before Christmas. We take our niece to the Lady Vols Christmas Softball Camp each year and there were several life size figurines in that building this year, but this is the first one I've seen in the gray uni. Really great work!!!

I too have one of Dusty's beautiful figurines that I bought for my father in law. Now it's time to get one for myself and this one looks like the winner!

Dude that is OUTSTANDING! How do you get all your lines so clean looking? That looks like it came straight from the Chinese factory! :)
