Saban has hired him as an analyst according to a Yahoo article. Maybe he took Butch's job? Wonder if the SEC Commish felt the need to sign off on this one?

"Perhaps" he is completely innocent - so why does Bama hire this guy? - just like Sark?- maybe even Botch? - past their "official" coaching staff - seems they take "bargains" - knowing these members of their coaching staff can add cheap value to their dynasty - must be a cog in the "process"..?

Another coach on road to rehabbing his career. This guys path may not be resurrected as so many other Saban assistants who have moved back.

I understand Saban wanting to pick up Kiffin or Sark. Kiffin was just a disgraced coach because of what happened on the field, plus he's just a d-bag. Sark had some personal problems he was working through. Same with Freeze, although he didn't actually hire him. Freeze had also of course broken a bunch of NCAA rules. For each coach, it was either bad results on the field, NCAA trouble, or some type of issues in their personal lives (or a combo of all).

Durkin, on the other hand, had his program investigated because the "culture" of it might have played a role in one of his players dying. That is just a far different situation from these other guys he has brought on or tried to bring on. Looks bad, and don't see how it is worth the risk. Huge PR risk for what can't be much reward. It isn't like they are going to be a better team with Durkin or a worse team without him.

Nicks home for wayward children.
I have a lot of mixed feelings here. Truthfully though, if true rehab happens, it’s a good thing to get a second chance. On the other hand, these guys aren’t ever going to miss any meals. There buyouts are like a good lottery win. Why not give those jobs to up and coming guys that work hard and play by the rules? They say a leopard never changes his spots. Some of these guys will remain d-bags regardless.
So if butch is headed to Maryland, and isn’t there the rest of the season, would he still be getting a national championship ring if bama wins out? I’m sure he would never take that off from now on.

Yes children, Bama never hired Durkin, he was never on staff and he was never an analysis. He came in as many coaches have done who still have jobs and evaluated the next team. Coach Saban is a visionary. he has an uncanny ability to evaluate and anticipate based on the latest intel. The man knows how to do his homework.

You'd tend to think Saban just might pick someone a wee bit less controversial at the moment?

It's not like Kiffin who was fired because he had a losing record. This man is under suspicion his actions led to the death of a player.

We call that a big effin deal...

Bama has become the Colorado Supermax prison of the SEC. They house the worst of the worst.

While everybody else makes statements like yours, Bama just keeps on winning at a historic pace. Saban just sitting back and laughing at everybody.

Remember the prison scene in Johnny Dangerously where a bunch of illiterate convicts try to relay a message to Johnny and completely alter the content due to carelessness and stupidity? Supposedly they have changed the name of the kids' game on which that scene is based to "Volnation Whispers."

so why was Durkin there? And why would anyone let Durkin anywhere near their team? Especially if not as a team member. doubt joeblow bamafan can get the same access Durkin has. These coaches all know each other, or at least know of each other. Saban knew he was there, no way Saban as a control freak didn't know and at least give tactic approval.
