D Thornton TD catch

This was a great catch and run, but I was watching the replay and M Matthews was completely left alone with no one within 20 yards of him. Matthews did make a block on the run,
He wasn't the first read and Nico wouldn't have known it was a blown coverage off the snap. Thornton was the read and he was open.

It was an RPO. You read 1 guy on an RPO. That's it. This is the type of thing we talk about when armchair QBs try to trash a QB for everything when they don't know ball.
Not complaining in the least, just couldn’t miss how wide open he was. He did contribute with his block, I have noticed he does this well considering he is a true freshman.

His time will come. Getting hurt in training camp put a little bit of a damper on his learning curve. We ask our WRs to do a lot more than most teams.

Thornton is our best WR this year. He is currently ranked #1 in the NCAA for yards per reception. Guy has 600 yds receving on only 25 catches. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a school record.n. If he can get back to 100% and past the nagging injuries, then we will ride him like we haven't done all season in the playoffs. Nobody can cover him.

Matthews has more potential to be a complete WR than anyone else on the roster (along with Brazell), and I was thrilled to see him finally get some real opportunities and he made the most of it.
