As many said Saturday, the loss didn't matter. It's a road series. Just win Sunday, and oh BOY did the Vols place an exclamation point on their series win. It doesn't hurt that Kendall Rogers was at the game Sunday and saw our offense go nuts.

We are sitting in beautiful shape to host a Super. Just take 2 of 3 from Kentucky and Mizzou (hopefully sweep the Tigers) and I don't see how we don't get a Super since decisions are slated to be made in the next few weeks because of COVID protocols.

Yeah I think a lot of these new college baseball fans in Tennessee have no clue how baseball works. It’s all about the series. They think it’s football lol. Cracks me up how people were talking about how embarrassing the loss was on Saturday when it was a 2nd game of double header and they lost by a run.

We have a similar schedule to MSU, they got swept by Arkansas.

Right there, around 6,7,8 hosting spots, we’re talking...gonna be a dog fight, more thoughts on this a little later.

Hope everyone has a great day, here, it is beautiful outside!!!

GBO!!!

Here are the Tennessee tidbits from today's chat:

Tennessee's next two weekends are at home vs UK and at Mizzou. Assuming they win those series, it seems as though they should be a lock for a top 8 seed since they are being released the week of May 10th. I know the committee probably wants to stay away from 4 SEC national seeds, but you can't deny the resume. Do you think they get a national seed? Or does geography, tradition, and politics keep them out of the top 8?

Aaron Fitt
Politics" are a non-factor here, and I don't think tradition or geography will hurt them either. The Vols have built a no-brainer top-eight resumé, and if they win those next two series (they'll certainly be favored to win both), you can take it to the bank. Even if they lose one of those series they'll be one of the 16 hosts, and then it will just depend on the final couple of weeks to determine whether or not they're a top-eight.

I know it is easy to be really negative towards A&M right now, so I have a different question for you Kendall. After watching A&M-Tenn this past weekend, what are some positives for the Aggies heading into the end of the this season and entering next season? Also, wow, Tennessee's mentality at the plate is second to none. That was a fun team.

Kendall Rogers
Tennessee is really impressive. Its offense reminds me a little bit of Arkansas in its offensive approach. They just don't miss mistake pitches. As for the Aggies and positivity -- Bryce Miller is a positive, and I continue to be really impressed with Will Frizzell. He didn't have a loud Sunday for me, but he's been ultra-consistent this year with limited help around him.

Sam Smith
Is there any chance after this weekend that Tennessee can keep Tony Vitello away from Texas A&M this off season?

Kendall Rogers
Not just A&M in general here, but generally speaking, if a big-time job comes open and they want Vitello, it's going to be hard for Tennessee to keep TV. WTS -- Tony loves the culture at UT and maybe he's a different person in that regard, so you never know. My best advice for UT would be to be very aggressive with a contract extension and let the chips fall where they may.

I thought the discussion on the Texas/TCU was enlightening, gonna be hard not to watch that series. Also, Fitt’s quote about ND sounded very much like the Vols as well. Lot’s of good stuff, especially all the hosting q&a.

*nods* I'm still learning the landscape of college baseball, so the D1 chats have particularly helpful with regards to which teams to monitor and all the post-season info. Lots of great stuff.

They are indeed. It is important to keep in mind that D1 is a subscription site, copying and pasting from there has been frowned upon. When Rogers or Fitt tweet something, fair game. But somebody with a subscription posting it here for free is a different story. The Chat is in the grey area, it’s free for a moment, because it’s hosted from another site, but it’s quickly hidden behind the pay wall.

Sometime it’s just better to summarize than copy/paste. No big deal, just something I have to keep in mind myself sometimes. Welcome aboard BTW, post often!!!

GBO!!!

Has the game Sunday been posted anywhere to watch? The YouTube channel I always watch for highlights only has games 1 and 2. (Wheels is the YouTube channel if anybody wants to check it out. Tons of college baseball highlights)

Thank you for the the welcome and for the heads up, @vol66! I look forward to posting more often and will be mindful of how to share info in future posts. This Tennessee team has renewed my long dormant interest in college baseball, and therefore has made this spring fun as a fan! GBO!

So glad to have another Vol fan on board and so glad to have a gritty team to pull for, it’s not pretty all the time but they seem to find a way. Cafego!

For those who may wonder about this term, skillfully deployed by VN gurus like vol66, NorCal, etc....here's pertinent information:
In internet slang, noobs are hapless, unskilled beginners who don’t know what they are doing. As far as gamers are concerned, a noob is a nothing more than an easy kill—or a real nuisance as a teammate.
It deserves serious consideration, much like the term "Nited Post".
